Tuesday is best we can play under lights. Perhaps not a full on 80 minute game, 4x 20 minutes that sort of thing. Would be mainly 2nd team but also feed in a few first team for balance.

We at York have been let down by our final pre-season opponents scheduled for Friday evening under lights, bbq beers etc. Just making sure all stones are searched under if anyone is available for a fixture?

Thank you for your interest in York RUFC. We have a new coaching team; Lee Denham continues as Head Coach into his 4th season. Steve Johnson joins the coaching team as player coach looking after the set piece (sure everyone with a knowledge of Yorkshire rugby will agree that he has plenty to offer in that department) along With JB Bruzilier who is backs coach and a contracted player with Yorkshire Carnegie who successfully applied to our advert in June. Danny Morgan joins us to look after S&C, he was a PT instructor in the RAF based at Linton and recently left to start a career as a personal trainer, he also played for last couple of seasons in our 2nd and 3rd team. Finally we have given Carter Croft the role as player development coach and will also look after video analysis. We have retained almost all the players from last season, losing one winger who has moved over to Liverpool with his girlfriend. We have signed several young players from our successful Colts side that made the National Cup final 2 years running and have re-signed a good quality specialist 7 who spent last year at Broughton Park.

Fully transparent here at York and looking forward to the season.

Oh sorry my mistake I thought your comments regarding reasons for not going were serious. Originally we had Heath, Salem, Keighley, Crocs, Cleck and Wharfedale in our group so we’re looking forward to first test of pre-season. No disrespect at all to the other teams who honoured a commitment made by the way.

Aren’t all preseason games voluntary? We went with a good strong side to get a test and whilst it was very well run and organised, it was one league instead of 2 when we got there. My point was presumably they all had good reasons for crying off but doesn’t bode well for the future of such events if teams say they will go and then cry off at the last minute.

Was it the ground or the weather but no shows at Skiptens from Salem, Keighley, Heath or Crocs (although understand that one). Might even too far for Wharfedale!

Respect is to be earned not demanded Porkies.

Aah the common retort of the millennial generation. Respect is to be assumed is the mantra of the the true rugby follower.

I understand the 10k limit at Level 6 and below is for a player/coach, so a coach who isn’t a registered player can get whatever the club wants to give them. Presumably to stop some clubs having 3 player coaches, a Fijian physio, Kiwi medic and a bar full of Samoan waiters.

Can't see any of the remaining fixtures getting played, unless the home clubs involved desperately need revenue, as they won't affect any promotion or relegation issues. Unless of course the current investigation into the Jugg resting players for yesterday's game results in them getting docked points.......

Not aware of any “current investigation” but for the record; York made 7 changes from the side that secured the title with 3 games to go, hooker did his ACL last week, TH and 12 working having swapped shifts to play last week, shoulder injury and another knee, 2nd row rested as he has County training today (should probably done the same with the 9 but no other choice) and one rotated. Of the 18 on the matchcard all bar 3 have played more than 10 times for the 1st team this season and of those 3, one made his debut in the Intermediate Cup and has appeared several times since, one has been kept out of the squad by our quality prop and the other was a debutante, all 6’ 7” of him, having started senior rugby on his 18th birthday in November (did well technically but will need to work on stamina at that level) having come with good reports from our 2s who are currently leading Merit League Premier Conference B.

Not sure we were 21 points worse than Beverley (who I understood had some changes, Junior belying his years playing at 13), although for period of 20 minutes either side of the halftime we certainly were!

Maybe, unlike other teams, we have been lucky with injuries and have managed to get results without putting together consecutive defeats, enough to have secured the league. As maybe Heath found yesterday we put everything into last week’s game and a toll has been taken.
