York playing weakened side is fake news once again. We will select from available and registered players our strongest side as we have done all season. There is no club who will share the kind of information being banded about by SP, so please use a bit of common sense when reading his posts.

The fun Police have arrived!

If the teachers in the school had been armed, couldn’t they have shot the squirrel and prevented all this happening?  :)

I remember sort of coaching (more like just selecting) him for North Yorkshire U13s to U15s, a really nice lad very grounded but on the pitch was a monster. First came across him when he played for Acklam at U11 in a Yorkshire Cup Tournament before the legendary Jon Burridge took him to Middlesbrough. His work ethic will make him a success, so well done Lewis.

Merit Leagues / Re: Cheers York RUFC

Just to clarify all 3 of these comments.
The Ossett vs York 3s game was cancelled late due to a lack of players on our side, the reason we didn’t fill in from our 4th team is that they are very much a social side (not a veteran’s side) and we have only just found out that we are able to ring fence those players so as they don’t have to play up, which we have retrospectively done. Their league results have not been great but numbers are, so read into that what you will.
The mistake, and it was genuinely that, regarding the Brods 2s game being confused with Wetherby 2s was regrettable but a rarity and these things do happen. We too had 18 players who had no game that weekend, but nobody died and systems have been put in place to hopefully prevent it happening again.
As for Our 2s game against Ilkley 2s which had been rearranged at the request of the Merit League as the result may have had a bearing on how the League split in January. We had 3 games at home yesterday, pitches were inspected at 9.30am, in the opinion of those there the 2nd team pitch was playable, whilst the 1st team pitch and the other pitch over the Bank were about 90% there so another inspection was planned at 12.00. When the referees arrived for the first and second team games the pitches were , in the opinion of those who checked, playable and I understand the referees had no problem with that decision. Ilkley weren’t happy with the pitch and decided not to play, which they have every right to do. The 1st team game was completed under floodlights with no problem at all.
Clubs run by volunteers ( as we are) will maybe not be as efficient or error free as clubs with paid staff. Everything we do is with the very best intention, as it is for every other club in Yorkshire, but mistakes while regrettable, will happen and decisions made, whilst people may disagree with them, are made and sometimes we have to just go with that.
I won’t respond to any replies on this post as I am comfortable that all is covered here. Yours in rugby.
