I see we have a winner for first walkover of this seasons comps
Well done Hudds Laund Hill.
They only made the draws 2 days ago.
How smart you are. As a matter of interest Huddersfield LH withdrew from the Competition on 24th June. Their e mail was sent to competitions but was not seen by me. Your positive attitude towards rugby in the County of Yorkshire makes me cringe.

Perhaps if you took note of the issues and concerns people have about the way things are going eh?
20 walkovers last season which is the highest apart from the covid affected season and you want people to be positive?
Really?
Can't wait for the reaction when the cup final date becomes common knowledge...
It has been noted.
Heath are now through to the final having only played in the preliminary round. :-X
It would be helpful for people to post ideas of how the Yorkshire Cup could remain relevant. It would be a real shame if we lost this wonderful tradition.
I know it hasn't found its place yet in the modern league environment but there must be a way for it prosper.

Wait until you find out one of the proposed dates for this seasons finals.
I was meaning more for future years... Between us all we must be able to find a suitable suggestion.
I think a few little changes would encourage participation
Regionalise the early rounds, make it's a 30 mile radius for early rounds. Might not work 100% of the time for some outliers, but reduce travel and have some local games taking place. From Quarter finals or even semi finals, depending on the number of sides involved in the early rounds, then start a normal draw process at these stages.
Home advantage to the lower league sides would give a greater possibility of games going ahead and less chance of a walkover. This could also be up to a semi finals stage. Teams in the same league could just be as drawn rather than based on league positions.
Might encourage more games to go ahead. Not "fair" as such, but Sandal in the Semi final of the cup have played both rounds so far, just to meet Huddersfield who are yet to play a game, with the winner of that facing Heath who have also had 2 walkovers to get to the final.
3 Walkovers Differ old boy

Travel isn't the issue.
Here's a very radical suggestion which will no doubt get picked to pieces and binned very quickly!
Why not have a qualifying day (perhaps regional - so it could be at one, two, three or four locations depending on geography).
But these days are a 10 a side competition, a round robin of say 15 mins each way.
At the end of the day you end up with your quarter or semi finalists. At this point it turns back to 15s and the matches are played at later dates.
Then the final also doubles up as an awards day when all the league winners are presented with winners trophies (or whatever you get). County can also present other awards this day too. Try and plan for all the youth finals on the same day too.
I'm just trying to think outside the box..
Update on Yorkshire Cup Competition:
Huddersfield have given Sandal a walkover. Final on 1st April 7:30pm at Huddersfield LH between Heath and Sandal.

Paying all those players but can't get a side out this week. Nice to see they're hosting an inter club game at home on Saturday though.
