Title: The league returns 8/11
Post by: Grasser17 on Nov 02, 2025, 09:01 AM
So after 2 weeks off for pointless cup games the league returns for just one week.

Burley vs W Hills. League leaders to win easily. Hills +7

Castleford vs D Valley. DV got their first league win just before the cup break so confidence should be up. But I think Cas will be too strong at home. Cas +7

Hemsworth vs Rotherham. Phoenix started the season with 2 defeats but have won the last 3  but I think the home team should just have enough. Hemsworth -7

Hornsea vs Thornensians. Thorne started well but lost the last 2, the home team need a win and I think they might just get it the this week against their nearest opponents. Hornsea -7

Corinthians vs Barnsley. If the home team don't come away with a 5 point win I'll be surprised. Corinthians +7

Skipton vs WPL.  The away team seem to be getting going after a steady start to the season. Not being the best start for Skipton they'll get a win soon but I don't think it will be this week.  WPL -7

Thank heavens for the league fixture structure, at least (mostly) guaranteed games:

Hurly Burly v Weatos: Champions elect before Christmas to dominate this one. Weatos +7

Cashless v D&V: Looks like the bottom is falling out of DV's world and this game will be of no comfort to them. Cas +7

Ex-whoms v RiP: Unashamed Halloween theme! Hems on a roll to chase re-promotion, hope they have enough players after the Xmas break? Hems -7

Horns v Thorns: Who will be sharper and spikier? Suspect the latter might just edge it even though far from home. Is if quicker by boat than by road? Thorne -7

Greeks v Brawno: Can't see Barns either travelling well, or doing much to get out of mid table. LC +7

Sheep sha**ers v WP England: Just going on higher table placing and Skips' dire performances to date. WPL -7

Burley vs Wheatley Hills - Wheatley Hills to keep it rolling. +7

Castleford vs Dearne Valley - Cas to win, but Dearne to keep it closer than expected. Cas -7

Hemsworth vs Rotherham - Hemsworth by a whisker. Hemsworth -7

Hornsea vs Thornensians - Hornsea better, and Thorne worse than their league positions indicate. Hornsea +7

Corinthians vs Barnsley - Barnsley a better team this year than last, but Corinthians to comfortably see them off. Corinthians +7

Skipton vs WPL - Still not convinced it's panic stations yet at Skipton, they'll come good. WPL a capable side on their day, they must fancy this one as a chance to enter the promotion fray. WPL +7.

Burley 26 - 39 W Hills
Castleford 26 - 29 D Valley
Hemsworth 37 - 23 R Phoenix
Hornsea 10 - 10 Thorne
L Corinthians 45 - 10 Barnsley
Skipton 10 - 40 WPL

Are DV finally getting going or was it just a bad day at the office for Cas ?
Wheatley Hills, Corinthians, Hemsworth, WPL looking strong as expected really.
Skipton struggling and would be bottom if DV hadn't had the 5 point deduction and it doesn't get any easy for them with the next 2 games the 2 longest away days for them.
Any thoughts on any games this weekend?

Weekend off next weekend 🙄 then back for 4 games in a row on the 22nd
