Title: 13th December games
Post by: Kellythorpe on Dec 09, 2025, 01:40 PM
Cleckheaton v Blaydon. Blaydon seem to be in form, so away win.
Harrogate v Penrith. After storm, if Harrogate's pitch playable should win at home.
Heath v Sandal. Definate home win.
Ilkley v Kendal. Definate home win.
York v Alnwick. I think York's misery will continue against a strong Alnwick. Although there is just the chance of a surprise as York at last turn round their season.
Driffield v Middlesbrough. I am hoping Driff can get some of their injured players back this Saturday and get the double over Boro.

Cleckheaton vs Blaydon
Blaydon to continue their recent good run with another away victory here. Expecting it to be close as Cleckheaton don't give too much away home - usually...
Blaydon

Harrogate vs Penrith
As I'm aware Penrite have a bit of an injury crisis at a moment which has stopped their early season momentum. Expecting a big scoreline here in the favour of Harrogate. Agree with Kellythorpe, if the bog is actually playable.
Harrogate

Heath vs Sandal
Heath to make lightwork of Sandal. They will win the arm wrestle and their backs should carve them up too!
Heath

Ilkley vs Kendal
Depending on availability this could be closer that Ilkley would like.
Ilkley

York vs Alnwick
Alnwick should see this game out comfortably unless York have a joker up their sleeve.
Alnwick

Driffield vs Middlesbrough
Good win for Middlesbrough last week, but can't see anything other than a dominant Driffield win here.
Driffield

Cleckheaton v Blaydon - form is temporary ! I fancy Cleck for this.

Driffield v Middlesbrough - Driff at home should be too strong, but not by many.

Harrogate v Penrith - the bog-trotters should be far too strong, unfortunately.

Heath v Sandal - yawn. 12 from 12.

Ilkley v Kendal - a firm pitch, full-strength side and home advantage. What could possibly go wrong ?

York v Alnwick - despite York's massive effort last week, a comfortable away win. Alnwick are GOOD.

Apologies for the lack of predictions, but I definitely got them all 100% correct  ;)

It felt like a rather boring game at Driffield today, the Woldsmen always had the upper hand, winning 21-0 at half time didn't really look under any pressure.

Yellow cards back to back for Driffield gave a 20 minute spell for Middlesbrough with the man advantage and they made it count twice out wide. But when back to full strength Driffield continued to dictate the game, and will probably be disappointed they didn't score more points.

Divide in the league has started to appear, and with Penriths continued slide down the table, Sandal & Cleckheaton will start to see a survival plan!

Clean sweep for me as well.

Didn't see Harrogate inflciitng such a heavy defeat!

From what I hear the Cleckheaton vs Blaydon game called off at around 65 minute mark due to a nasty injury to one of their players and a red card shown just to add to their woes.

Agree with Differ lid. Driffield seemed to be cruising, three converted tries and could have been more, as plenty of possession and territory. Then a poor spell, two cards and some panic set in. Lineouts lost continually. But it was turned round when back to full strength. Excellent games from Captain Hughes and Bowman who shows plenty of "go forward". Five good conversions.
Obviously the Harrogate pitch must have dried up a bit!

A decent performance from Ilkley against a lively Kendal side. Still missing Magee, Morgan and Harrison, but a good result for the squad. 7 apiece for much of the first half, but a killer try just before half time rattled the visitors and the second half saw the Dalesmen much the better side, running in three further tries to the visitors' one.

We had 8 of the Kendal committee for lunch - a record for this season !
