Since we were all in a void some 10 days or so ago I want to enlighten/report on our eagerly awaited encounter at Ribb with Keighley.
Keighley started on fire, literally, sparking a few scuffles of little consequence but made their intentions clear. After 10 minutes they scored a well worked converted try to give their many supporters much to cheer. The rest of the half belonged to Ribb as we scored a converted try and a penalty to lead 10 - 7 at the break .
We then exchanged seven pointers and added a try to lead 22-14 Keighley then scored a seven pointer to make it a one point game but we put the game to bed with another try to win the game 27-21.
Bumper crowd, feisty affair as you would expect in a local game . But. Camarderie amongst clubs seems to be disappearing as only three Keighley players appeared upstairs and their MOM pint was sunk by a decent supporter who spoke well on their behalf. Shame at 5.15 he was the only one left from our friends down the Aire Valley. This very hard earned win is a large stride to winning promotion and wins in the next two should confirm that. Lets see as nothing being taken for granted but after winning away at Bev, Hull, and Wath in consecutive matches and then the above I believe confirms promotion form.
Not surprised by the behavior of Keighley player, regular in our games against them with cheap shots galore, first to whinge on return fire! hey ho, Congrats Flaggy! a well deserved triumph for your boys this year, hoping its 3rd time lucky for the Beavers against you come the cup game! fingers crossed we can get a full strength side out and give you a real challenge!
