Title: Scarborough v Doncaster Phoenix
Post by: backrowbandit on Mar 21, 2026, 05:45 PM
Although the match between Donny P and Scarborough has been marked as a HWO this does not tell the whole story.

Donny knew they were struggling to find sufficient fit and available front rows. However they kept trying every avenue right up until match day.

Despite this they still travelled to the coast and fulfilled the fixture with Matty Jones and another Scarborough front row player playing for Donny. In fact Ben Foden had a run out in the 2nd half for them.

The Donny players and committee wanted to do their bit in the spirit of rugby to allow Scarborough to have a match to celebrate promotion.

Everyone at the club appreciated this amazing selfless act, showing the true values of rugby.

They are currently enjoying a free bar.

Thanks from everyone at Scarborough #rugbyfamily

Unfortunately, the referee had to shoot off, but he really appreciated the sportsmanship from both teams, although he thinks there may have been a forward pass in the build up to Foden's last minute try.

Enjoy the evening.

Kudos to Doncaster today. They could have easily of thrown in the towel but they demonstrated the true spirit of Rugby today coming with a weakened team.

To quote The Rugby Guy.... 'The real winner today was Rugby'

Did you still charge 8 pound on the gate for punters, even though it's a glorified friendly???

Ah...there speaks someone who doesn't understand community rugby.....but you're correct, it should have been £10 to watch Ben Foden score.

Huge crowd cheering on both teams, glorious sunshine, fast free flowing rugby, kids celebrating tries - are you not entertained Cheeseboy?

Getting to watch the Haka will be well worth a tenner to get into Silver Royd next year.

We'll see if we can teach the Scarborough boys a haka in between their Yorkshire U18/20 fixtures... might take a while mind!
