I don't think so otherwise they'd have probably put it on the thread already live for this topic.

Interesting to note that NE1 contains all 3 1st placed teams from R2 west, east and north. One thing for certain, at least 1 team from level 6 will be staying up.

Will be interesting to see who finishes highest from Scarbs, Ribb and Northern. Add to the mix the 2 bottom teams from National 2 North. It certainly looks like it will be one heck of a season in NE1 with hardly a fag paper between them.

Maybe spending the playing budget on physios and stengh & conditioning coaches may be a better use of money than anouther couple of grand down the drain on new players or Air New Zeaand flight tickets. I suspect whichever of these 12 teams have the longest injury list over the season will be the ones heading back to level 6.

I'm going by the attachment sent by the League secretary.

Checking the RFUNorth downloads they released a V2 later in the day.
V1 dated 15/5 at 8.27
V2 dated 17/5 at 17.54.

On that basis, they've had a change of mind over the weekend

Same can't be said for many other teams and can't wait to see teams social media posts throughout summer.

Ilkley seem to have lost a few maybe a difficult season ahead? Will York have to add a few in order to survive?

Joe Lowes didn't play for most of the season, because of recurring head-injuries. However, I believe he has gone as player-coach to Otliensiens ; Blake Morgan has retired because of his recurrent knee problems and Harry Harrison has gone to Heath, as he has moved into the area, according to his announcement on Heath's website.

A lot of hype from Scarborough for a young man that's not played a senior game of rugby before, and very little exposure at fly half at any level.

He looks confident in the multiple videos and hats off to Scarborough for showcasing a signing in such a professional manner.
I suppose the question would be is it a lot of pressure to apply on a young lad yet to prove himself?
Title: Re: league make up next season

"a lot of hype" 🤭🤭. Wait for some of the other signings, that will get you into a tis!

Well one thing is for sure, whatever output and content Scarborough push out on our social channels...you can bet your house that within a week Driffield will copy it! It's been a beautiful compliment to our coms team, so we'll take it!

Anyhow when are you going to announce your Kiwi import? That could be one to hype!
Title: Re: league make up next season
Post by: Differ Lid on May 28, 2026, 06:56 PM
Oh that's exciting to hear of new signings to push for the national leagues.
How much did the club settle on to pay the 1st team players in the end?

Scarborough do social media incredibly well, fantastic advert for the club, and no doubt will be a fantastic advert for the wider league with the content and coverage.

An overseas player or 2 is never breaking news for Driffield, it's been a regular feature of every squad for a long time.

We settled on a basic £150 per match and a £200 win bonus. We've also thrown in an extra incentive of a trip to las Vegas for the whole squad if we stay in the league next year..... And if we get promoted an all expenses trip to Driffield.

Agree with DL seems like a lot of pressure to put on a young lads shoulders. All quiet on the social media front from Hull & Scunthorpe apart from the loss of a couple of coaches. You'd think if they keep a similar squad to last season they'd be up at the top end of the league.

Moving this to RE1 chat hope you don't mind Pristine!

As I have said before, looking forward "to playing Scarbs and Ribb again - it's been a long time. Most promoted teams seem to have struggled to cope with extra pace in NE1, so there is clearly a gap.

However, the gap from NE1 or N3N is even greater, as every team in N3N is semi-professional. So if Scunthorpe and Hull can hold on to their sponsors and players, they're going to be very hard to beat. Apart from those two, Alnwick would be my favourites."

I agree and can't see anyone other than those 3 to make up the top 3 teams if Hull and Scun keep the core of their squads together they'll be hard to beat.

Especially with it seeming like lots of teams losing players... not many new signings on social media but I guess only time will tell. Wouldn't count out the newly promoted teams especially N Rib- a side with a hell of a lot of momentum don't write them off I think top half at least.

Hard to look away from relegated sides being at the top and promoted sides at the bottom.

It sounds like Hull have lost a few and maintained a few, so they will be bit of an unknown, they have a lot of ex professional talent, just not a very big pool of players.

I think Scunthorpe will be up there but they have lost Tim Robinson, been there for a hell of a long time and big shoes to fill.

Alnwick have had a consistent squad for a few years and came just short last year, so think they have to be favourites.

Ilkley, Blaydon and Sandal have lost a couple of strong players.

Middlesbrough will no doubt be improved now they know the level.

York will need to do something to avoid a repeat, chance a couple of the older heads call it a day after a tough year?

Northern bit of unknown.

North Ribb & Scarborough have a habit of winning, it normally shows over the 1st few games.
Scarborough the most active side with signings, will see if they add the value for a higher level.

And Driffield, ex 1st XV captain and key backrow retired, not easy to replace. Plenty of young players blooded last season and staying around, a couple of key returning players for the 100th year and could easily be a couple of places higher then 6th.

Our most exciting announcements to come over the coming weeks.

However, I'm very realistic that survival would be a most satisfactory season for us.

It's good to hear that Driffield are pushing for promotion and expect to be up there next season. It will make for exciting derby matches, top (Drif) v bottom (Scarb)..

I don't think anyone is under the illusion that Scarborough will be settling for survival. Not with the rumours circulating in the North East.

Infrastructure is all in place for National League rugby at Silver Royd, and sounds like plans are to continue to the ride the wave, not just tread water!

Quote from: Jim on Jul 08, 2026, 06:12 PMInteresting to see BRB talk about paying players when he has previously been so adamant that Scabs don't and won't.

Amazing ethologically to see a leopard change its spots before my very eyes.

Lordy Lordy it's a miracle.

Errrr .What have I got to do with this conversation?

Scarboroughs position remains completely unchanged and always will.

Quote from: backrowbandit on May 28, 2026, 07:33 PMWe settled on a basic £150 per match and a £200 win bonus. We've also thrown in an extra incentive of a trip to las Vegas for the whole squad if we stay in the league next year..... And if we get promoted an all expenses trip to Driffield.

Am I misreading this?

If so I apologise without reservation.

Crikey....if you're going to respond to a light hearted comment try and do it in the same month not weeks later!

I like a dry humour but you've just uncorked a Domaine d'Auvenay Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru.....if that was your intention.

Suggest you read it again!!
