Title: Favourite after match food
Post by: backrowbandit on May 29, 2026, 09:24 AM
One for the players (or ex players to reminisce)

What is your favourite after match food?? Although it's just a bit of fun, it will also help clubs adjust food to match changing tastes.

Hopefully some will comment!

Had hot roast pork and beef sandwiches with either chips or roast potatoes from memory at Wath a few times which was always v good. Selby had 3 or 4 choices including pie or curry post match and like Wath, always a good club to play at.

Crickey - lamb shanks coast about £8 uncooked now! It just used to almost thrown away! I bet that was popular!

Once played at Huddersfield against their 3rds, after match told us where to get our scram. We were served half a chicken, roast potatoes, stuffing, cauliflower and carrots, plus fruit crumble and custard or cream. When I pointed out we were a visiting team, the lady explained that they had a massive wedding reception in the big room and that was their choice, and she was blowed if she was cooking two different meals as she didn't have time. Don't think that was ever beaten. Anyway far better than the Cup a Soup when we played Castleford 2s in the 90s
