Skipton 53 - 19 Wetherby II
WPL 58 - 0 Scarborough II

3B

Some results I didn't see coming. Maybe some of the second teams aren't as strong as we thought but then again it's only early days

That looks a right game at Maltby.

Went to watch Skipton v Wetherby 2s. Wetherby started well but soon dropped off. Skipton scored regularly, but to Wetherby's credit having been 53 nil down they scored 3 tries in the final quarter. A couple of observations. Wetherby had a very light bench, suffered a couple of injuries, and unless I miscounted were down to 13 at one stage. Hopefully that won't become a bigger problem as the season, and injuries through the Club, progresses. As might be expected the Wetherby following was also light, presumably most would be watching their Firsts at home. Prepare for lighter bar takings when playing Second teams, compared to what would have been a busier bar if the opposition was a First team.

IMO the result that stands out the most is WPL Scarborough, I know WPL will be one of the favourites in 3A but will all the signings Scarborough have made for the first team you would of thought the seconds might have done abit better. All credit to WPL and its early doors yet

Most people I spoke to in pre season thought the second teams wouldn't be anywhere near as good as they'd been made out to be. Big club syndrome stuff I think, this season was always going to be a tester anyway as there was no way they'd get the second teams league placement bang on first try.
