Beggars belief, incompetent, self centered are just a few printable potential terms I would use to show the Yorkshire RFU lack of respect for its constituent clubs.
Which are always subservient to the blazers eagerness to get their snouts in the proverbial trough, come what may.
Our esteemed leaders have managed to arrange the final of their premier competition, their Yorkshire Cup etc, on a day that they are also asking club players to entertain them in a County game at Hull.
So we have 3 players from York who have been selected to play at County level on the same day of the Yorkshire Cup final!!!!
So the boys who will be quite rightly, proud as punch to be selected to represent their County have to make themselves unavailable for the club in their first ever Yorkshire Cup final.
A piss up in a brewery springs to mind bearing in mind those who have control over these decisions have had ignored at least 6 free weekends since the final participants were known.
So where will the senior members of the Yorkshire RFU be on this devalued day?
Think it demonstrates that the cup is an after thought, but also that they doubted players below level 4 to be selected for the county squad.
Firstly impressive to have 5 players from the league in the squad.
Who is the third from York? Could only see Scholey and Shackleton on the squad?
John Charles Stadium Hunslet. 4 Finals in a day 11,1,3 and 5pm kick offs.

How recently were you provided that information?
I'd be equally concerned that a Yorkshire match is being played at a non-rugby club like Hull - isn't it a field and a bank account?? (Unless it's at Hull Ionians - which is an actual club).

Agreed and the fact that this fixture is almost 2 months after the final league games also beggar belief!

Was announced a few weeks ago I think.
11am: Maltby v Nestle Rowntree
1pm: Old Otliensians v Wheatley Hills
3pm: North Ribblesdale v Yarnbury
5pm: York v Cleckheaton
You are correct Badger. I got confirmation on 17th March after asking the question. We will have a slim squad as several players play a high standard of cricket (Northern Premier league) and are committed to that. Never mind we will do our best.

I knew about that announcement, i was more interested in if there had since been another. Seems not.
Not that I am aware of. Why would there be.
Two games both at Hull Ionians, U20s at 1, County Mens at 3
I would make sense that seeing as Hunslet RL have no home game that weekend, the Finals are played on Sunday
Mr Mayday,
definitely not on a Sunday but Saturday 24th May.
Two County games both at Hull Ionians, U20s at 1pm, County Mens at 3pm on Saturday
I would make sense that seeing as Hunslet RL have no home game that weekend, the Cup Finals could then be played on Sunday

That makes far too much sense for the RFU MAYDAY

IIRC the County Cups used to be played at a ground that balanced out the travel for the teams involved. Obviously not an exact science but it did seem a fair method. Ionians is out on a limb for most of this Seasons participants. From experience, Finals on a Sunday are not as good as the Saturday.
Isn't the NE vs NW all star game also that day?

21st June, apparently, at Heath.

There must be a member or two of the forum that have contacts on the YRFU committee?
Maybe they would like to post an explanation in the forum as to their rationale for both these decisions.......
Or are they all suitably embarrassed and unable to justify their decisions?
21st of June?
Are insurances still in place for this game?

What's your beef with the YRFU??
Blaming them for everything including the date of this fixture, even though it has sod all to do with them.

Nothing ever is!
I am sure that the YRFU could have intervened and said this fixture clash was not suitable and needs to be changed, they didn't.
They obviously felt it was important enough to bring a past president in, blazer included, to award their cups!
I am guessing It was equally important for all the 8 teams taking part on the day to enjoy the day and win if possible.
But not it would seem for our current Yorkshire President.
I think it's a fair observation.
Unfortunately there are several other examples I can call upon from my own personal experiences with the YRFU, that do again show their judgement as lacking!
Anyway let's move on.
