Halifax vs Brid - Long day out, no problem - Brid +7

Northallerton vs B&B - Old Farmers to put up a fight but to run out of steam after about 10 mins - B&B +7

OO's vs Bramley - Set up nicely by an away win at Vandals, fancy OOs to keep their good start to Y2 life going - OO's +7

Osset vs HLH - Week 2 of the season and HLHs pockets already running dry with their national league signings disappearing. Back to usual precedings at QT, not much rugby played, plenty of moaning from the Wakey Wind Ups, but Ossett to put their baps where their mouth is - Ossett +7 (27-10)

Ripon vs Roundhegians - Rugrats to put on a show in front of the new stand, mainly in a bid to get a playground installed for after-match playtime - Ripon +7

Vandals vs Baildon - Vandals to put up a fight at home, but Baildon will use the pitch as well as they do at home - Baildon +7

I'd rather be in t'sunshine!

I think there'll be a couple of close uns this week but here goes.

Halifax v Brid - Fax-7
North v B&B - North -7 (maybe/hopefully)
Old O's v Bramley - OO's+7
Ossett v HLH - Ossett-7
Ripon v Hegians - Ripon+7
Vandals v Baildon - Vandals+7

Retired youngster

Bramley huffed and puffed but enjoyed throwing the ball into touch more than capitalising on overlaps, which saw Ensians run out 26-5 winners after taking their chances well

Ossett v HLH

Again a game of 2 halves!

The HLH scrum sent the ossett pack back on every scrum, ossett tried different combinations in the front row with very little luck

In the first half with HLH playing down the hill I believe ossett entered HLH half of the pitch just once HLH ran into a 21-0 lead leading into the break.

In the second half the pattern changed, ossett managed to use their wrecking ball centres causing HLH issues, again injuries hit HLH having a centre combo with 2 x forwards playing there for the last 20 minutes.

The HLH 10 gifted ossett territory and had a bit of a mare throughout the day.

The game went down to the wire with ossett searching for a winning try, however the HLH pack stood firm and saw the game out making it 2/2 and 10 points

Lucky for HLH it's a cup game next week however hopefully our "national league players" will be back for the vandals game aswell as a few more recruits who's rugby league season is coming to and end!!

Best start the club has had in many year, if this game was played last year HLH would have crumbled it seems they have found a bit of grit and how to see out games

Locked Out

Ripon went into this week with six recalls to the squad and a renewed commitment to start winning and gather a bonus point or two. Sadly Hegians put the mockers on that and with a spirited final quarter display of energy, nearly nicked the match. Ripon's set piece was much firmer and provided a solid platform to unleash erm...

With two tries from their powerful Left Wing and a simply executed line out drive, Ripon were unlucky from the kicking tee and some extra points went begging. Credit to Hegians - they were never going to let this game run away from them and for Ripon, another lesson in execution and sticking to the game plan. Hegians were restricted to a solitary penalty goal at half time and the converted second half try made their score more respectable and a losing bonus point is never to be sniffed at.

Brilliant to see a good crowd turn out to witness the opening the stand and even more brilliant to host 3 matches at Mallorie Park. Special thanks to Yarnbury for bringing a 2nd and 3rd XV to join in the celebrations. Whilst the 1st XV result didn't go quite as planned, the three wins at home were a mighty boost to club morale and bar takings!
