Scarborough 37- 10 Malton...

Big win for Scarborough - who left as many points on the pitch as we scored. Well referred.

Good day for local rugby with 3 teams out for both clubs. I think Malton won at 2nds and 3rds.

Cracking game of rugby

Old Brods 22 - 21 Old Crocs to say the home crowd were relieved is an understatement! Best effort from a Crocs team I've seen at Woodhead for many years. With Brods downhill in the second half it seemed inevitable but Crocs must have felt hard done too after a great effort.

I thought crocs effort last week (while losing) looked like they were stronger.

Wetherby vs Salem not the best on the eye this afternoon. Although the better team won, it very much looked like 2 sides that had a number of players missing.

I'm sure there will be better performances to come from both sides.

Went as guest to Scarborough. Excellent day. Pitch immaculate. S with wind first half should have been much further ahead than 17-5. Many missed chances for them. S good pack, particularly in the tight scrums and also some speedy backs. Will be in the scrap for promotion. Malton showed spirit but look a middle table side.

"Pocklington vs Morley - There have been loads of good reports about Pock and we know Morley have been actively recruiting. I have a feeling Pock will win quite easily. - Pock"

Predictions at this stage of the season are always a mugs game. There were one or two who  thought Pock would win comfortably, but yesterday's clash proved to be a fiercely contested encounter that any neutral would have thoroughly enjoyed.

It was a physical, hard-fought match. Pock fans left delighted with the result, while Morley supporters will feel it was one that slipped away. The key to facing a big pack is to keep them away from your own 22, and Morley managed that well for long periods. However, despite spending plenty of time in Pock's danger zone, they failed to convert pressure into points—thanks to some determined Pock defence and their own lack of execution.

Morley dominated at the scrum and will be scratching their heads at coming away with just a single penalty as reward. Their Achilles heel, once again, was the lineout. Costly losses deep in Pock's 22, including the final play of the game, handed momentum to the home side and left Morley frustrated. At the breakdown, Pock also secured several crucial turnovers to snuff out Morley attacks.

Both sides showed great commitment throughout. Morley, however, were hampered by limited bench options, with only two substitutes after a forward was unable to travel due to car trouble.

I've just realised that was my prediction. Well Pock won with a bonus point...which is a much better prediction than this chaps efforts:

"Pocklington vs Morley - This will be a cracker, two big teams going toe to toe. Would it be a shock if Pock won? Morley just."

Wonder who that was? Yes predicting is a mugs game but some are bigger mugs than others 🤣🤣

Is it a better prediction ? He was bang on with it being a cracker. However, it was Pock who just won and not Morley. I would say that prediction is a lot closer than Pock easily winning, but that's just my opinion. Looking forward to your predictions for next week !!!!

ScrumAndGetIt

I don't think I was that far off. From reports on here, it was Morley who were left scratching their heads.

I'll also add that the rest of my predictions were correct. Call me the oracle if you like.

Pock fans happy with the result as we had 4 first team starters unavailable for selection, I for one was expecting a very tough day at the office for the lads, and that's exactly what they got. Morley very dangerous in attack with special mention for 12 and 15 who were excellent and the 10 organised very well. Brilliant, if not nerve racking game, which could've gone either way.

Morley were in the same situation. Three injured from the first game and one non appearance in this game.!!!! Sounds like we may have picked up further injuries as well. Alas that is the nature of the beast in such a physical sport. Its a long hard season and hopefully those injured will return.

Hope the injured get back soon, a couple of our lads took nasty looking knocks on the day as well, as you say it's a long hard season and I've got a feeling its going to be a very competitive league.
