It's no secret that we've a number of jobs linked to a couple of schools, we have advertised this one everywhere tbh, it's available straight away after we unfortunately hit the visa wall with a Ghanaian international outside back.

The school roles are available for uk nationals or international players. Blair joined us the season before last and was a real asset on the pitch and in the role he is advertising for us.

Bit of a turgid game watching Morley v Selby today as a neutral. It looks as if Selby have a very young team with a splattering of experience whilst Morley have some more experienced heads. Morley generally looked in control throughout, although it was tight at times it always felt like they had an extra gear to give and that was evident towards the back of the game. Their set piece was solid across both scrum and line out which gave them the better platform to convert the opportunities.

Re. Malton's advert: I agree, nothing wrong with it, its a good package to recruit players - better than any other club at this level offering. I'm surprised you haven't had more uptake.

I remember it was successful when Malton dropped to Y3 they recovered by recruiting a number of kiwis Mckie, Poser etc..and then later had several South Africans. So no doubt there are various links in other countries.

We'll keep an eye out for the recruits arriving. Good luck.

First trip to Moortown 'Balti House' in a while today. A couple of hilarious moments from the resident Neanderthal patrolling the sideline, firstly demanding that his fellow club mates 'get on the roof' to get them balls back, while it was throwing it down - it then became apparent they didn't have enough balls to get through the game with people running in and out of the changing room in panic. The Neanderthal then went on to hip thrust and scream 'that's how you score a try', when the moortown centre walked through a large gap in the Scarborough backline to score a try. Suspect he's still dragging his knuckles along the floor.

The game was played as I suspect most were today in absolutely sodden conditions, with both teams sticking to it throughout. Moortown took an early 5-0 lead, and a bit of an arm wrestle first half ending 15-10 in Moortown favour, which the drinking boys on the scaffolding were very pleased about. The game remained tight with scores from both sides but once Scarborough got to 17-15 ahead their class showed through and they continued to pull away. Meanwhile the Moortown supporters slowly drifted into the clubhouse to watch their first love of 'Leeds,Leeds,Leeds' on the big screen.

Great turnout from the Scarborough supporters on a rotten day with all of them staying out and watching the game till the end before swimming home.

Brown envelope brigade strike again

Malton 10-19 Wetherby.

A hard fought game in wet and windy conditions. A day where I feel like Wetherby will leave happy with the win but at the same time frustrated that they let the game be as close as it was.

Malton and Norton will cause a lot a problems for teams this year, strong carriers and a good well rounded unit.

New to this so go easy on me.

Salem v Donny
A first win of the season for $alem, will this kickstart their season with the NRL superstars still yet to return? A more positive result for Doncaster, albeit in defeat.

Moortown vs Scarborough
A good win for Scarborough as Moortown is never an easy place to go with the heckling teenagers. Are scarbs the early season front runners?

Crocs vs Pocklington
Another good away win here, with Pocklington showing their credentials in what I can only imagine was a very wet day at Broomfield. Crocs seem unlucky to have only picked up 1 point from their first 3 games, I give them a fighting chance.

Pontefract vs Brods
A very impressive win here for Brods and based off the predictions on here, one that surprised us all. Brods will be happy with their start to the season and Ponte will be licking their wounds and ready to go again after the cup week.

Malton & Norton vs Wetherby
The theme continues, with another impressive away win. Wetherby seem to have picked up where they left off last season despite losing a couple over the summer.

Morley vs Selby
Morley back to winning ways after a tough visit to newly promoted Pocklington last week. Selby are a good outfit and Morley will be happy to get 5 points here.

crash ball

Unfortunately, had to settle watching the game online but i thought Morley showed clear improvement from last week, despite testing conditions. The scrum wasn't as dominant as in the previous game, but it still held the upper hand over Selby and provided a solid platform, particularly in the second half. The lineout also operated much more effectively and created good opportunities for mauling, though Selby managed to disrupt play and deny Morley in some promising areas.

Both teams were guilty of leaving points on the field, with missed chances caused by poor decision-making and wayward passing. For Morley, a recurring issue remains the lack of accuracy with conversions—just one from five attempts is a worrying trend that echoes last season and could become a real problem as the campaign progresses.

Next week brings a break for cup rugby, which may offer a welcome chance to rest some sore bodies before returning to league action the following week.

Fair summarise there Betty but it's far too early to say Scarborough or anyone else are front runners. As I've mentioned a few times we have a very small squad which is being tested already.

Before the season began I predicted that Morley, Pock and Wetherby would be the ones to beat and I think that has proved correct so far.

Quote from: FlankSinatra on Sep 17, 2025, 02:21 PMSalem +7 - Understand superstars are back

Scarborough +7 - League Favs? Moortown have had a rocky start

Pock + 7 - wander if they're back to strength? 'Pock fans happy with the result as we had 4 first team starters unavailable for selection' if so should be a very easy win

Ponte/Brods - Draw, two teams who will be there or thereabouts the top 6 come the season close

Wetherby +7 - fantastic start to continue

Morley +7 - shouldn't be too much car trouble so will get a full 18 out this weekend

Not too bad - did not anticipate the result at Pontefract. Pontefract poor or Old Brodleans good? Anybody attend?

Can imagine spectator numbers may have lowered this weekend due to pissing rain.

Wetherby win impressive 👍

Only 4 left unbeaten....

I was a visitor at Pontefract on Saturday.

Pontefract had a number of changes from when I visited last season. ON Saturday they did not have the powerful set scrum of previous seasons and a very you set of backs. So for Pontefract I expect it will be a rebuilding season.

Close at half time but BRods pulled away in the season half. Brods played a keep the ball alive and moving game which may be more difficult to do on heavy grounds.

Good young referee aged 22 I was told expect he will be destined for bigger things.

Donny off to a rocky start- I imagine the brown envelopes are back in full low this week. Salem by plenty

Moortown vs Scarborough
Moortown will be looking to get their W of the season I don't think it'll be this game. High scoring game with Scabs winning by less than 7

Crocs vs Pocklington
After proving me wrong last week im going to back Pock, think it'll be a low scoring affair in the rain though.

Pontefract vs Brods
Fancy the Orcs of Ponte to get them over the line here especially with the weather forecast. Brods are really yet to get firing and think they could be on the back foot here.

Malton & Norton vs Wetherby
I fancy M&N this week at home in the rain. Low scoring- less than 20 points in the game

Morley vs Selby
Match of the week this week- Selby should be confident after their win vs Moortown and Morley will want to get back to winning ways. I'm going to go draw
:) I understand many players are paid across the league. But only ever Salem that gets crappy envelope comments. Change the record

I have no objection to clubs paying whoever they want, I do disagree signing ex NRL players when they might not even have a ground to play on.
