Old Brodleians v Pontefract

A game that should, in theory, see a routine home win. The predicted weather forecast and know how of Brods to manage the mountainous slope should be the difference between the two sides.  However, Ponte will be buoyed by their Christmas dinner stuffing of Donny Phoenix and will put up a fight.

Pocklington v Old Crossleyans

A mid-season dip in the form of Pock? This will not be an easy game for them on the back of three straight losses. Backing them to wear down Crocs over the game and escape with a narrow victory to see them remain top at Christmas

Scarborough v Moortown

Scarborough should bag a fairly straightforward 5 points here against what I understand is a depleted Moortown. They never seem to be the best travelling team either.

Doncaster Phoenix v Bradford Salem

Cricket score to Salem.

Wetherby v Malton and Norton

This will be an interesting game. M&N seem to have had somewhat of a revival of late and they will be keen to maintain their progress up the table and put some distance between themselves and other teams around them. It seems Wetherby are having an injury or unavailability crisis and I may just back Malton to upset the odds.

Selby v Morley

Two teams who have been going relatively well of late. The game earlier in the season was tightly contested with Morley coming out on top. I expect the same sort of game here but backing Morley to continue their good form.

I think you'll find we are below BRB's men in the league standings!

Apologies!

Forty Twenty

Donny P v $alem
I don't think we will see a rebirth of the Phoenix this season. The Money Men to put a ton past them this week.

Brods v Ponte
Brods managed to pull through in the Halifax derby last week and I think they'll carry on again this week. Ponte are yet to win away (other than Donny P) and i think that'll carry on again this week. Old BrodHILLeinas +7

Pock v Crocs
Pock to get back to winning ways this week and i think they'll go into Christmas top of the pile. Pock -7

Scarborough v Town
My MOTD. The Town 1s 2s and 3s are all aboard the bus heading to the East Coast this weekend and i suspect the atmosphere at Silver Royd will be something to behold. Town off the back of a slightly messy but strong win V Selby and they've shown they can beat the top teams in this league. Town to nick it at the death. Town -7

Selby v Morley
Selby at Far Moss at the weekend showed glimpses of what they're capable of. However, i think the Morley pack will be too strong at this time of year. Morley +7

Wetherby v M&N
Wetherby and M&N sit either side of the divide in the league at the moment a loss for Weth could drag them back in whereas a win for M&N might see them escape the tussle at the bottom. Wetherby home advantage to pull through. Wetherby -7

Donny P v Salem – Head says Salem but heart and Christmas says Phoenix. Going for a Phoenix win to set the club up for recovery in the new year.

Old  Brods v Pontefract – A classic Yorkshire fixture that predates league rugby by decades. Home advantage to just decide Brods home win.

Pocklington v Old Crocs – Taking Pocklington to steady the ship and win.

Scarborough v Moortown – Can only see a Scarborough win.

Selby v Morley – Very close game but think Morley need the win most so just a Morley win.

Wetherby v M&N – The winner will be the side that wins the forward battle. Just an M&N win.

FlankSinatra

Doncaster Phoenix vs Bradford Salem - Bradford Salem by 20+. I worry for Phoenix, hopefully a change in fortune after Christmas and they keep going. If they have had an injury bout to add to a depleted squad then this period might be fruitful for returning lads.

Old Brodleians vs Pontefract - Pontefract will be betting on some home complacency just before Christmas - they will give this Brodleian team that seems to be scraping along a run for their money. As for the home team on their hill they could look to make a statement. Old Brodleians +7 but wouldn't be shocked if its a different outcome.

Pocklington vs Old Crossleyans - After watching Old Crossleyans at the Gannock I cannot see anything other than a cricket score to Pocklington who will see themselves as league favourites still. They seem to have had a few injuries return and will be gearing up for another barrelling charge at the league. Pocklington +7.

Scarborough vs Moortown - The unknown quantity that is Moortown will be up against a confident Scarborough looking to put on a Christmas show. Scarborough here by 20. I wonder who plays the better style of rugby? It feels as if Scarborough have adopted the style of Moortown.

Selby vs Morley - My MOTD and one I do not know the way it will go. Selby on their day are capable of beating anybody and I think Morley might lose this themselves by being too arrogant. The better club wins and Selby go into Christmas back in the play off hunt. Selby -7.

Wetherby vs Malton and Norton - the trip between counties here not as far as you'd think so would anticipate a good crowd from The Gannock to travel over. I think Wetherby will pose a serious physical challenge to Malton and think they will just have the edge, either way though I think the losing team returns to the clubhouse with 2 bonus points. Malton -2.

If anybody cares for a bit of Christmas fun - who would you like to see promoted?

Legwill

Town were poor at home v Scabs earlier in the season, but it was close even then - well, up until the second half when they lost their way.

Expecting a good away win - be plenty of us going along this weekend.

Donny P v Salem – My hope is that Donny manage to field a team every week until the end of season. Hopefully if they have some players returning they will keep most matches below 50. It isn't long since they were throwing money around. I guess the music has stopped. Salem by a lot.

Old  Brods v Pontefract – I'm not sure there will be too much entertainment on show here but Brods should grind out an easy win.

Pocklington v Old Crocs – The title favourites have had their wobble now and Old Crocs will struggle to get anything out of this fixture. Pock by at least 20.

Scarborough v Moortown – The Moortown Christmas jamboree to Scarborough always lifts Town to a higher level. I'm sure all the 2nd and 3rd team coming over to support will behave as most are on day release! Should be a very entertaining day.

Selby v Morley – Not an easy match to judge. Like most teams Selby improve at home but Morley going well. Draw.

Wetherby v M&N – I think home advantage will see Wetherby home. It also depends on how many Malton players have recovered after the physical battering they were given by Scarborough. Their 10 will be a loss if he hasn't recovered. Tight Wetherby win
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.

PocknRoll

DP vs Salem - unfortunately I can only see another loss by plenty.

Old Brods vs Ponte - Brods to win.

Scarborough v Town - can Town really beat the league favourites on there home patch, with the Silver Royd faithful in full voice? Can't see it myself, Scarborough win.

Pock v Croc's - some lads back for Pock and some now missing, Backing the boys to win a tight affair.

Selby v Morley - hard to predict this one, home advantage to see Selby win an entertaining match.

Wetherby v M&N - Wetherby to beat a gritty determined Malton side.

Crocadoodledo

Donny P v $alem – Weekly yawn. $$$alem +7

Old  Brods v Pontefract – Brods were very solid last week so can't see this being anything other than routine. Brods +7

Pocklington v Old Crocs – Not the game anyone wants before the Christmas break, especially if PockNRoll is right about returning players. Can't see the boys getting anything sadly. Pock +7

Scarborough v Moortown – Similar to the Brods game, should be routine for Scarborough. Scabs +7

Selby v Morley – MOTD. Tight high scoring affair. Selby  -7

Wetherby v M&N – Not a clue really, M&N stringing some decent results together and wetherby unpredictable. M&N -7

Separate note, all this could go out of the window depending on Mad Friday Xmas do's.

Merry Christmas my forum friends.

I can see a clean sweep for the home sides this week (bar the obvious) surged by attendances and availability with travelling teams suffering.

Donny Poo v $alem – Ashes pt 2

Old  Brods v Pontefract – Brods +7

Pocklington v Old Crocs – Pockroach cry more

Scarborough v Moortown – Scabs +7

Selby v Morley – Selby -7 few good results I think they'll bounce from this

Wetherby v M&N – Wetherby -7

Pumba

Last weekend of the year and with 2 weeks off who knows what will happen in the new year in a tightly packed league which has shown anyone can beat anyone on their day apart from the obvious...

Could there be a few Christmas Do's tonight giving some lads a sore head on Saturday afternoon and make everything that little bit more interesting.

Donny P v $alem – We all know the score here unless a Christmas miracle is about to happen it will be a BP for Salem.

Old  Brods v Pontefract – Its Brods prime time of the year bad weather and an awful hill ponte will struggle BP win for Brods.

Pocklington v Old Crocs – Can pock stop the downward spiral just before the break.... I think we will see another loss for them with Crocs only picking up 4 points.

Scarborough v Moortown – MOTD for me and if last week is anything to by it could get tasty at Silver Royd. Going for a Town BP win in a thrilling and entertaining game.

Selby v Morley – Morley to continue to push for top 3 with a BP win here.

Wetherby v M&N – Id like to see M&N get the W here but I cannot see them getting anything at Wetherby, Muddy upfront game Wetherby BP.

I meant we seem to get couple back and then lose a couple at the same time, no different to others that have or are struggling with availability though, I agree that Black eye Friday could claim a few lads across the league 😂
