Happy New Year to you all!!

Let's start off with wondering how many games will go ahead this week with the frozen ground and snow forecasted in most places towards the end of the week.....

All Predictions will be subject if the game goes ahead.

$alem vs Ponte - The all stars will be too good at home against a struggling Ponte even though they had a good win against Brods away in their last outing. Salem BP

Town vs Wetherby - This is an interesting one as Wetherby will still have a bee in their bonnet over the replay that happened last year as they went from been 37-10 up at half time in the 1st game to losing the replay. It will be a tough battle upfront but Town at home will get the job done. Town BP Win

Morley vs Scabs - I Wonder if Morley have taken over Salem in the January transfer window for the remainder of the season... I don't think anything will make a difference to a strong Scabs coming over and getting a BP win.

Pock vs Brods -  Not much splits these 2 but I can see Brods causing Pock another upsetting Loss to their record this week and tightening up the playoff spots. Brods BP Win

M&N vs Donny Poo - As bad as it has been we all hate to see what Donny are going through as a club but everyone has done it at some point. Cannot see past a M&N BP Win.

Crocs vs Selby - This will be a tough battle for Selby away from home as they haven't managed to get many points on the road and this week they are at the most hostile ground in our league. Low scoring game but Crocs No BP Win.

Oldandslow

Salem v Pontefract – Very close game with the added spice that a Ponte player recently moved to play for Salem. Home advantage just the difference Salem win.

Moortown v Wetherby – Wetherby will have too much power in the pack, Wetherby win.

Morley v Scarborough – MOTD for me (Just)and a real test for both sides. Must win for Morley if the really want promotion. A Scarborough win would be a marker the Scarborough are the team to beat. If both sides are at full strength just a Morley win if not who knows.

Pocklington v Old Brods – Most weeks this would be MOTD. Taking Pocklington to put behind them their recent form and win a very close game.

M&N v Donny P – Bonus point home win.

Old Crocs v Selby – Another close game but just favour Crocs on their small pitch to win.

SomecrapbackfromWestYorks

Could be an interesting week for results and allot depends on which teams have eaten the least Mince Pies and which have the most players back from injury after a good few weeks off.

Crocs vs Selby = Going for Crocs to get this done without a BP.

Moortown vs Wetherby = Moortown to start the year with a bang and get the BP win.

Pock vs Old Brods = Pock just.

Morley vs Scarbados = Morley in a close match depending on who gets the 50/50 decisions from the ref.

Salem vs Ponte = Salem with a BP. Ponte will be hoping for a few Salem cards to keep them in it I feel.

M&N vs Donny = Malton. Nothing more to say unless Donny got a Christmas miracle.

Crocadoodledo

$alem V Ponte - Ponte to have a bit of a revival in the new year. Close game with plenty of cards, but going for Ponte to nick it. Ponte -7

Moortown V Wetherby - Not an easy game to call but going for another away win. Wetherby -7

Morley V Scabs - Morley to ramp up the promotion push and Scabs to have a mini wobble. Morley +7

Pock V Brods - Brods to tail off after Christmas as they do most years. Pock +7

M&N V Donny - Could it be 100??? M&N +7

Crocs V Selby - Should be a close game, with Crocs hoping to have a couple lads back. Didn't see Selby this year but they always provide a good game. Crocs -7

PocknRoll

Salem v Ponte - Read in the T&A that Salem suffered a few injuries in their Boxing Day "friendly" vs Baildon, hopefully non too serious, but could be a factor. Close one to call, Ponte were good in spells at Percy Rd, but I think Salem will have enough at home to win a close game.

Moortown v Wetherby - Wetherby win for me.

Morley v Scarborough - GOTD and not sure which way to go with this one, close game with Fodens men taking the points to stay on course for the league.

Pock v Brods -  another close one I think, looks like heavy conditions if the forecast is to be believed, battle of the packs with Pock taking a narrow victory.

M&N v Donny - only one winner here...

Crocs v Selby - Crocs to grind out a result, but not by many.

wing three quarter

It has been a long, hard slog leading up to Christmas, and teams at the top will be pleased with their returns so far. However, the Christmas break can affect teams in different ways. We've seen it before: sides that were winning before Christmas suddenly find that victories aren't so easy to come by in the new year. The bubble can easily burst, and just as you can go on a good run of form, you can also lose two or three on the bounce. With that in mind, making predictions is a lottery. Here goes.

Crocs vs Selby
This looks a tight contest and may come down to which side adapts best on the day. Crocs may have a slight edge. Crocs win

Moortown vs Wetherby
Another close-looking fixture. Much could depend on Wetherby's injury situation, while Moortown's consistency could be a factor.  Wetherby win

Pock vs Old Brods
This could go either way. Old Brods may feel they have a chance of edging it. Brods win

Morley vs Scarbados
A strong contest is expected up front, with set piece effectiveness likely to be important. Morley have had to contend with a changing back line due to injuries, which has affected game management at times. Home advantage could be significant. Morley win

Salem vs Ponte
This may be a very physical encounter, where discipline could play a key role. Ponte may have a slight advantage. Ponte win

M&N vs Donny
Unless Doncaster see a significant improvement in player availability, this could prove a difficult outing for them.  Malton by many

All this could be academic as the weather may be the only winner this weekend.

Firstly, having looked at the regional weather forecast I can't see any reason why any matches should be postponed on Saturday. It's likely to be a bit wet and cold but everywhere is well above freezing.

Salem v Pontefract – I think Bradford will win reasonably comfortably. Bonus point home win.

Moortown v Wetherby – Moortown too strong at home and although they'd prefer drier weather they should obtain a bonus point.

Morley v Scarborough – no gamesmanship here....the top 4 should always win at home and anything else will be a surprise. I've fancied Morley all season.. will their classy A&E doctor be available?? No point trying to find their team anywhere!

Pocklington v Old Brods – Pock will swat Old Brods aside without breaking a sweat. Big home bonus point win.

M&N v Donny P – Bonus point home win no question.

Old Crocs v Selby – Crocs should power to a bonus point win.

Forty Twenty

$alem vs Ponte - May be a bit cold for the money men but i back them to get the job done at home against the Orcs. $alem +7

Town vs Wetherby - A forwards vs Backs classic i think the Moortown pack will have enough to manage with heavy Wetherby lads and come through. Town -7

Morl£y vs Scarborough - MOTD - Scarborough have a chance here to put a bit of light between them and the chasing pack, however, i think the Morley forwards at home in a cold wet day will be a bit too much. Morley -7

Pock vs Brods - Brods to have eaten to much food over the Christmas break and to have their usual mid season tail off leading to a bang average finish again. Pock +7

M&N vs Donny P - M&N +70

Crocs vs Selby - The Crocs pitch is a horrible place to go and if the crowd get into Selby it could be a tough day at the office for them. Crocs -7

I would love to know what weather forecast you use seen as a lot of ground has been frozen all week and I wouldn't say 3 degrees is well above freezing and seen as it is normally a lot colder on the ground during cold days I would say its certainly not warm enough for long enough to thaw out rugby pitches.

I have already seen games cancelled around the surrounding areas on socials so I do not think it is likely that many games will be on.

In saying that I do hope every game manages to find a way to be on and if some are called off and some are still on it will be interesting to see who goes to watch any games that are still on.

We had word from Morley this morning that their pitch is in perfect condition so hopefully it stays that way.

Most places have been freezing all week and temperatures are barely getting above freezing this weekend. The 'feels like' temperature is still below freezing most places. I'd be surprised if there's many games on.
