An absolute nail biter at Old Brods yesterday with Morley making hard work of dispatching a spirited OB team.

A 28 v 21 victory doesn't convey how hugely one sided the encounter was, however it is a testament to shift that OB put in with their defence.

Playing with the slight incline and and the breeze Morley were camped in the OB half for almost the entire second 40 minutes.
Apart from the 5 re-starts OB only managed 4 phases in the Morley half and of those only 2 made it to the 22.

Had Morley been a little more clinical and had the 50/50 decisions been shared out more evenly by the ref; who had a good game, it could have and probably should have a much more comfortable win for Morley.

Next week at Pock has all the ingredients for another classic.

Jim, genuine query here but does further travel (much like this weekends away day to Pocklington) mean the players are paid more money? Or is it a flat rate?

Double pay for the playoffs and a big bonus for promotion is what I've heard....

I've no idea I'm afraid, I do not get myself involved in the running of the club. And therefore I'm unable to even comment about what Morley do with regards to payment.

However, if you have a genuine interest all payments will be detailed in the full accounts at the end of the year.

The club I know feels that paying 'off the books' is in contravention of the spirit and indeed the letter of the RFU regulations.

And that signing a knowingly false statement to say 'we don't pay' could have serious consequences sequences if discovered.

Having looked at their last available accounts - it seems to show players expenditure consistent with the £50 a match they talk about.
