A few interesting match ups this week as the bottom few fight for safety and the top 2 look to secure their positions.

Beverley v Wensleydale
Bridlington v West Leeds
Harrogate Pythons v Hullensians
North Ribblesdale v Old Rishworthians
Pocklington v Leodiensians
Wath Upon Dearne v Keighley

gateprop

Beverley v Wensleydale - Beverley have bounced back from some tough losses with a couple of free scoring wins, expect them to continue that form here. Dale at full strength will cause them problems up front though and could see them getting a try BP for something like a 48-24 scoreline. Beverley +7

Bridlington v West Leeds - last chance for Brid to get a win this season I reckon and a game West Leeds will be targeting hard as they look to keep clear of the bottom 3. I think this will be a good contest for 50 minutes but West Leeds will run away with it in the last 30. West Leeds +7

Harrogate Pythons v Hullensians - big test for us here. Last game was a good contest but Hullensians pulled away in the 2nd half. I think we'll have the edge in the pack and will have to play well across the park to match a very organised side. Always back yourselves. Pythons +7

North Ribblesdale v Old Rishworthians - with a chance to win the title at home can't see anything other than a big home win here. With a very tough last 3 games, Old Rish will be praying Pocklington take the 'best placed 2nd team' spot to avoid 3 going down from our league. North Ribb +7

Pocklington v Leodiensians - can't see anything other than a big home win here as Pock push fro promotion. A result that will seal Leos fate in the bottom 2. Pock +7

Wath Upon Dearne v Keighley - this is an intriguing fixture. Normally I would say Keighley to win this one but there are coming off two very tough games with some red cards I believe. Add to this they haven't been the best away from home this season and Wath play their own pitch very well. I'm tipping a close home win. Wath -7

howzat

Beverley v Wensleydale -Bev should have to much out wide for Dale, especially away from home.

Bridlington v West Leeds - West Leeds can take a big step towards safety here with Old Rish's run in. Feel they will have to much for Brid and will probably want it more..

Harrogate Pythons v Hullensians - Hull to win comfortably.

North Ribblesdale v Old Rishworthians - North Rib to win by a cricket score and win the league in front of a home crowd.

Pocklington v Leodiensians - Pock to get a 5 pointer and carry on pushing for the one of the second place spot promotion spots.

Wath Upon Dearne v Keighley - Keighley are coming of the back of a tough couple of weeks, but should have far to much for Wath who seem to be in a downward spiral.

Oldandslow

Beverley v Wensleydale – Beverley at home and in good form to win with a bonus point.

Brid v West Leeds – Brid at home to win a close game. Sadly for Brid it will be too little to late to save them from back to back relegations.

Harrogate P v Hulls – Hulls bonus point win.

North Ribb v Old Rish – North Ribb bonus point win and confirm their league championship

Pock v Leos – Pock bonus point win which will confirm Leos relegation. H.ope the young Leos side stay together and bounce back next season

Wath v Keighley – Keighley bonus point win.

Pythons 35 - 43 Hullensians
Pocklington 34 - 0 Leodiensians
Bridlington 24 - 49 West Leeds
North Ribblesdale 59 - 5 Old Rishworthians
Beverley 45 - 24 Wensleydale
Wath Upon Dearne 66 - 10 Keighley

Congrats to North Ribb on winning the league. To do that as a promoted side is a great achievement. Result of the day though has to be Wath! I backed them to win but that's a battering.

Pythons started like a house on fire today and took a 25-0 lead after 30 minutes. Hullensians got 3 quick tries back though for 25-21 at half time. The lead changed hands a couple more times and there was some belting rugby on show from both sides. Felt like we were a little unlucky not to get the losing BP as well as the try BP but a good performance against a very good side.

Phew, big relief at Ribb getting the job done with some scintillating rugby scoring nine tries in front of a large crowd and a great day all round. Rishworthians also played some expansive rugby which made for a good watch and didnt look like a bottom three side. Onwards and upwards now. Next week an away game at Beverley in the semi-final of the shield (our first game, and a £1000 bus fee) as we strive to go through the season unbeaten.
Cant believe the Wath result yesterday(well done from all at Ribb) maybe the Keighley lads have thrown the towel in after a third near miss trying to get promotion.

Big thanks to O.Rishies yesterday for leaving the changing rooms in a pristine state. A very rare occurance these days as players expect someone else to do it including the Ribb players. Wewll done Rish lads.

Congratulations to Ribb, hell of a season. to go undefeated in their first season up is pretty ridiculous, Seems a theme the last few years promoted teams are in and around the top, is the gap between Y2 & Y1 smaller than we thought?

Flaggy

Bev Best,
no ides at differing standard between Y1 and Y2, but I will be in attendance at Beaver Park on Saturday. Please make yourself known to me so you can purchase a celebratory Jamesons for me!!!!!!
I look forward to making your acquaintance.

Pock n Roll.
just looked at Cheshunts last two fixtures and they are against the third and fourtrh placed teams in that league who are both less than a win away from them. So if Pock can get two five point wins and they drop anything I think it is possible for you to overhaul them and get promoted despite the RFU doing their best to stop clubs progressing.
Good luck from all at North Ribb.
FORMERLY Ribbflagman.

Thanks Flaggy

Slim chance but not looking good, either way it's been a great season for the lads. Although we lost at Grove Park it was one of the best games this year and could've gone either way, great atmosphere. We'll just have to try for the league again next year.

Flaggy

Bev Best,
I was in attendance on Saturday and asked around but nobody seemed to know you as your Pseudonym. Maybe you are a closet club supporter, anyway you missed the chance to purchase Jamesons but also to receive a double in return. Never mind it was a good game but think we deserved to win overall but you put some pressure on when we were down a man. Good club at Beverley and a watched the game from the balcony where there are many myopic club supporters who could only see through one way glasses. Bit like the balcony at Scarbs but definitely not the case at North Ribb!!!!!
FORMERLY Ribbflagman.

The balcony at Scarborough is only occupied by the most discerning and impartial rugby dignitaries... ::)
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.
