New League Season

It may be early days to welcome newcomers to the Y2 and I do hope that our additional clubs will all be represented on here, as well as our regulars return in the fulness of time.

Heads up that I am happy to maintain Moderator status and hope Gate Prop can spare the time too. As I am retiring from work, I will have plenty of time on my hands to run a "bipolar" predictions league for A and B once the season gets underway. I am told that fixtures for this level and below, will be issued on 22nd June. After which, let the banter begin!

How come Yorkshire 2 A only has 11 teams??

I think it's because a 2nd XV dropped out somewhere and there was no other way of evening up the leagues. Not ideal that we all now have one less game and another gap to fill with a friendly, or shopping!

A good way of moving back towards 14 team leagues - not...

The whole idea of letting the 2nd XVs into the league system was to appease what the vast majority of clubs had asked for, namely, 14 team leagues. Seems we have been lied to and gazumped yet again by the people who hold power. Not on in my opinion.

From the original 12 teams that were published to be in Yorkshire 2A in the beginning of June, it looks like Selby + Pock 2's have left the league with 1 replaced by Harrogate 2's?

Sunshine I presume you meant Yorkshire 3A as that is the league they are in on the county website along with Selby. Harrogate 2s in Yorkshire 2A so your comments are a little confusing. Please advise if I am wrong.

Hi Flaggy, according to our social media guru, we were told on June 2nd, the 12 teams in Yorkshire 2A were -
North,
Beverley,
Driffield 2s,
Hull 2s,
Ilkley 2s,
Leos,
Leeds Corin,
Ripon,
Wharfe 2s,
Malton+Norton 2s,
Selby 2s and
Pock 2s.
But I believe Pock + Selby now somewhere else + Harrogate 2s in with us?
Our social media guru could have been misinformed maybe???

Mr Shiners is correct as is his media guru, though I can't corroborate where Selby and Pock twos disappeared to or why, or how Harrogate got in. The starting line up for Y2A however, as on GMS and confirmed with Ripon fixture sec is:

Harrogate 2
Hull Ionians 2
Ilkley 2
Leeds Corinthians
Leodiensian
Malton & Norton 2
Northallerton 2
Ripon
Wharefedale 2

Having played most of these clubs at some point in the past, it's hardly charting new territory, but with Northallerton and Ripon the sole survivors of last season's Y2, it's going to be quite a different and potentially difficult competition coming up.
