Anyhow they made a good point that it's not fair that some clubs can train and others can't. Fair enough

Delayed by at least 2 weeks for R1 and below.
L4 and above don't have weather issues so they're all kushty.

Ilkley have a friendly against Melrose today, which is certainly going ahead.

And apparently, even Clubs with 4G pitches face the sane delay,

With just over a month to go and the forecast looking very typical I think it's an early and silly call. Just like in winter the suitability of pitches is club led, local referee led then ultimately two Captains call. Why should this be any different? It's clearly to stop any RFU liabilities with no thought,in my opinion, given to the cost implications to clubs for booked meals,sponsors,transport and player availability. On one hand Bill harps on about the community game becoming more self governing and reliant but then makes sweeping decisions that affect the whole game. Many clubs have perfectly playable pitches, Moortown included and I suspect many more will be by 12th September. I'm honestly baffled.

RFU statement says after "Extensive consultation". nobody consulted us, or I believe any other clubs in our league (please correct me if that is incorrect). Our pitch is about as perfect as it can be and at the stroke of a pen they have denied us two sell out home fixtures, without any comms, not surprising as communication is not something that the powers that are in charge seem to understand. Quite shameful really. Maybe our council members could raise the issue at the next meeting. I think not. Useless.

I received a What's App message from North Ribblesdale (Ian Walker ) on Tuesday 12th August saying ' North Ribblesdale is pretty much the same. (as Morley which was unplayable at this moment in time) Just about unplayable at the minute'

Just catching up on this. I'm assuming it's such an early call
because it is much drier down south (just returned from Bournemouth and it was like North Africa).  Even though it will rain one day will players have time to get their contact training up to match readiness?
No doubt RFU officials covering their backs. Making a sweeping decision and allowing local decision makers to carry the can with regard to testing and practice games.

Our second team pitch yes too hard. Our first team pitch very playable and with rain forecast would probably be about perfect in four weeks time.

Do the people running the community game not bother to check the conditions at Scarborough and North Ribb before making these decisions!?!?

So the opposition who may have concrete pitches unfit for contact training get to play against teams who are able to.

Great way to run an equitable competition.
