With the season delay are any clubs thinking of a few extra pre season friendlies?

What have clubs currently got lined up until the 12th September?

oldtimerugby

Not sure I've heard much about additional fixtures but I know a few have pushed theirs back.

Any chance of the RFU reversing their decision given the next couple of weeks are meant to be wet?

Pumba

Moortown played against Widnes at the weekend and they said the Lancashire RFU have gone against the guidance of postponing competitive fixtures and their cup games will be played on the 5th and the 19th of September.

It's only league games that have being postponed till the 26th, friendly, cups and merit league games can still go ahead. That's how some people read it anyway

oldtimerugby

There can't be that many merit league fixtures taking place this season given the number of 2nd teams entering the league structure.

Second point - what do we make of the regulations the RFU have put in place regarding player selection between 1st and 2nd teams? Surely this is going to stretch many clubs to their limits given the decline in playing numbers over recent years.

Probably be seeing a load of "exceptions" being requested for league secretary consideration?

I've just read them now. Seems an awful lot of admin for the League Sec to keep a track of and also seems to disadvantage teams that have a competitive bunch of players that can and will play 2nd and 1st team rugby based on merited selection. Very much a case of an after thought I think.

This came up on the RFU EMC training group last night.
It was clear it hadn't been considered by the various committee members.
I do not envy the league secretaries.
"Bother!" said Pooh, as he found his smack had talc in it.

So a player plays the first four games but then gets dropped and we need to seek permission? League Secs now are involved in Club selection?

A level 6 club is mid table come Christmas but their 2nd XV are pushing for promotion from Level 9 and players can't be swapped about to achieve this yet the remainder of the level 9 Clubs can sign new players to do so. I can see what they are trying to do but all this should've have been set out before they decided to enter 2nd XVs into divisions.

Grasser17

You might see some teams purposely fielding weaker 1st teams in games they know they can win easily or not got a chance winning so there 1st team players can still be eligible for the 2nd team

Who would be so cynical?
