My original point wasn't a moral crusade about money in rugby. It was an observation about the merits of attracting players through various incentives to strengthen a 1st XV, while further down the club teams struggle to raise a side. You disagree — fair enough.

As for Driffield, nobody is paid to play rugby. What arrangements a club has with its coaches for the time they put in is an entirely different conversation.

I'm also not going to get into the forum favourite of "I know who gets what, but I'm not going to name them". We could probably keep that game going until Christmas with the rumours which fly around East Yorkshire

It's the laughable fact that Scarborough seem to every year attract a large amount of antipodeans without any financial incentive. Yet claim local lads are the ones driving Scarborough up the leagues.
