Hi all,

For somebody who has followed B&B Bees for near on 50 years I would love to hear everybody else's thoughts on this topic.

Saturdays result meant Bees are now 0 wins in their opening 2 games.
They were once the most prestigious club in the area and were a joy to watch. Fast forward to today they are looking like they could be in for a long season in Counties 2 Yorkshire ( Granted we are only 2 game weeks in and things can quickly change )

I managed to get down to the first game of the season and we look to be significantly off the mark for a team supposedly pushing for promotion. It is very clear to show that last year we certainly relied on the rugby league players.
I wonder what caused this once great club to fall so far down the rankings in such a short amount of time?

Does anybody else have us down as a relegation contender for this season?

Maybe I am just overthinking this but would love to know what other members of the forum have to say about us.

Only one reason that B&B are in said position.  The paying of players. Instead of investing in the club fabric, coaching and facilities.

The pursuit of glory and ever greater achievements and living beyond one's means.   Not the first or the last to flounder by pandering to money.

Invest on your M&J's  that is the future.

not the best start to the season but back to winning ways at least today

Wath 2s will struggle in this league they were awful. We were just less awful today and a win is a win

Agree money does come into it and has done but some lads are homegrown and have been bees since kids

few people saying both teams might go down this season I have to say things are going to need to drastically improve and quickly if that isnt going to be the case

Thanks for your input Paul, couldn't agree more.

I do believe that if things were to change this needs to happen urgently.

Me and my husband have put this down to poor recruitment over summer and poor management of the club.
A club of our status should be attracting high calibre players, not players in their mid 30's that are well past their sell by date!

Very infuriating as a fan but all we can do is sit back and enjoy what looks to be a long season ahead.

I'm intrigued to understand what a club of 'your status' means?

A lower table Yorkshire Two side going on recent history...

Maybe if they'd spent some money on their facilities rather than journeymen players they might attract/retain a bit more talent, last time I was there the lights didn't work in the changing rooms so showered the goose shit off and got changed by phone light!

Only a matter of time, really. They went all in financially last year for promotion as the clear objective, but failed miserably. Once that happened, the players naturally started looking for the next best financial opportunity. Throwing money at it and still failing to get promoted in these leagues is never going to be sustainable in the long run. They're victims of their own making, to be honest. And don't even get me started on the abuse from the stands — that's a whole other issue.

Huge shame i had no idea you ran our accounts department? poker isnt my favourite game rugby is but last i checked all in means no chips left? We've got chips pal and with a bit of luck they'll start their work this weekend. As for abuse from the stands - f*** off

Y2 slowest winger

Bradford & Bingley are a shadow of what they once were, and the decline has been coming for years. They seem far more interested in trading on the reputation of the old Bees than doing anything to justify it in the present day.
If last season's success relied so heavily on paying rugby league players to come in and make the difference, then serious questions need to be asked about the strength of the club's own squad and the direction it's heading in.

Can't help but echo the sentiments of most of the posters on here, in that unless you have an endless supply of sponsorship, or a solid business model for club income, paying players at this level, or the next couple, is folly. To be fair to Bees, my observations since they've been in Y2, is that they have worked hard on post-match hospitality and make visitors feel welcome. Unlike the rowdy lot in the corner by the clubhouse (not the stand), who maintain a steady stream of invective towards anyone not in Bees kit!

God only knows what would attract anyone to play at Bees (if no financial incentive). Victorian changing facilities. Massive egos from their undeniably successful past. Boo boys galore as Locky says. It all adds up to a major problem. If no young homegrown players coming through, it looks a bleak future for a club that no longer live on yesteryears reputaiion. Having said all that I wish them all the best as nobody should take any pleasure from a club that is struggling. We need all clubs to do well and be sustainable.

Sad times indeed Lorraine Bees and Park are the biggest clubs currently stuck in the Yorkshire leagues.

I think a big issue for our clubs is we're everyone's big day out and cup final.

Looking at results though this could be the year both clubs start to kick on and rise back to where they belong.

Cummo94

Don't you worry love I am back at the wheel and we are in the best position we have been in for years.

At least we have some honesty in saying we spend money on players when teams such as North Ribb, Scarborough,Leos, Old Otliensians, Ripon, Huddersfield Laund Hill and Beverley all spend money on players and blatantly deny it. Seriously does my nut in. Hypocrites.
They hate us cause they ain't us Carter. Just remember that.

Shithouses the lot of you on this forum.

Welcome Cummo. Have you just joined to be rude and cast wild unfounded allegations, or do you have anything constructive to add? Maybe some lighthearted banter and a prediction or two?

Couldn't agree more here Sycamore its like England in the six nations, its not who you want to win its who you want to lose and all teams want to see us lose. Hoping we both climb the ladder now and get back to where we belong
