I paid £10 to get into Hull on Saturday (and £10 for my wife) and received a folded over A4 piece of paper for a programme.

I'm torn on how I think about this .

One side of me thinks that they are gallantly battling away in a rugby league city and managing to help keep Union alive. They don't own a ground and therefore need to get income anyway they can. So part of me thinks good on them.

The other side of me thinks why do they have to spend what little money they have on players rather than developing a club?

An interesting one - anyone got any views?

I also bought £10 of raffle tickets so I did my bit to help them out.

I went once to watch last season to Hull v Ionian league match at Hull's venue. It was not a happy experience for my son and I and I will not be going again. The whole ground needed a re-vamp and a thorough clean up. Perhaps that has been achieved for this season?

It wasn't too bad I suppose... It had three semi derelict stands dotted around the ground. With two of them being no more than a ramshackle pile of wood.

Ultimately I think it's a sports centre so they don't really have much control and I believe they have to be out by 5:30 each match.

I thought the little clubhouse area was okay and tidy...no idea about the changing rooms.

There's obviously been a lot of money thrown at that club over the last 15 years. All of it has been thrown into the pockets of a handful of players. Therefore that cash was left the game completely forever.

So in the context of keeping their club going in some respect I suppose they're being successful.

But they must be losing a fortune operationally each year... which I guess is supported by a sponsorship injections from the same person who's done it for years.

From what I could see the pitch was in good condition.

When we were in the same league for a couple of seasons, I always referred to them as" 'ull's 'ired 'ands ". It was clear that they were spending more on players than infrastructure and apparently that's still the case. I think we beat them once at our place, but never there.

It's a tenner at Ilkley now by the way !

Scarborough have remained £8

And as I like being attacked I'll happily list what you get for that!

- parking for several hundred cars
- full colour uniquely printed programme - not a book of adverts and a middle page shoved in.
- 1 downstairs bar
- 2 upstairs bars
- 2 outside bars
- several inside and outside food options
- spectator stand for 440
- balcony (some to have an extension with 120 seats)
- plentiful toilets in the clubhouse and underneath the stand

Bring on the haters! I just think it's better value for what I got for £10 at Hull!

Who was it bought the old ground ? BUPA ? And yes, a fantastic set-up you have - did I hear you have 35 employees too ? Bit more of a business than anywhere else in the league.

35 employees, the whole first team squad?

Sorry, I couldn't resist, BRB 😂

I doubt the £10 pound gate fee paid by the very few supporters Hull get will cover much of their player budget.

Sad really, probably the only club in the league without a second team or any mini and junior players at all! It's more of a first team of mercenaries. I'm still baffled as to what potential benefactors are gaining from their involvement?!

I suppose it's up to the benefactor. Scarborough's was able to use land to build a facility. Presumably that option wasn't available to whoever is keeping rugby going at Hull.
Don't see it as a reason to crow,

Er as you've asked it's actually 70 employees, soon to be 85 when our new site opens. Sadly our wage bill surpassed £1m quite some time ago.

Equally sadly our annual electricity bill will rise to £80k soon.

So there are pros and cons!

Whoever is keeping rugby going in Hull have made their choice what they choose to spend their money on. Nobody is crowing just highlighting the two different approaches.

I'd be more concerned with Employers' NI and the new "rights" !

Probably what fuelled their rumoured 'hostile takeover' of Bev last season which seems to have gone quiet. Really couldn't see any benefit to Beverley with the proposal.

When Labour are finished they'll be nothing left but 40% of country working in the benefits office and 60% of country claiming benefits!

But that aside - we're taking the ££ so don't mind paying the bucks.
