We played Selby 3's away last year and were absolutely hammered by a very capable side. I pride Ilkley 3's on being competitive to say the least.

I mean its an absolute coincidence their 1's weren't playing and that score gets knocked up.

Embarrassing for the game that.

Unfortunately they're not the only team guilty of it.
"Bother!" said Pooh, as he found his smack had talc in it.

Looking at Yarnbury's teamsheet for the 2s for the past few weeks. Only a couple of names stand out as 1st team players.
Don't think anything too underhanded has gone on there.
Perhaps Selby travelled with a weakened 3rd team?

Having picked the team myself I have no issues with the side selected, I would actually argue it was one of the weaker 2nd XVs we've had out this season who ended up travelling with a squad of just 17 and a make-shift backline.

Our 3s recently had an excellent contest with both Selby 3s and 4s in friendlies but this was a merit fixture against our 2s.

Occasionally mismatches occur, for example our 3s were systematically taken apart in just 40 mins by an excellent Otliensians 2s. They hadn't drafted in a host of 1st XV players as they were supporting their team.

I can assure you that when you play our 2s in a few weeks in the merit league we won't load it with 1st XV players - unless you'd rather play our 3s...?

Hope it hasnt dented their appetite for a game as they play us at Ribb this Saturday, Leos and Bramley are already no shows at our place for merit table games. I also doubt if they will honour their committment of travelling to us for what should have been their home fixture. IMHO  we ahould ditch the merit leagues and partner up with several like minded clubs and play each other four times a season.

Did Sheffield tigers 1st not have a game this week Rob13?

Guess what,
Selby 3s blobbed on us in our merit table game against our 2s. However they still managed to play away at Wheatley Hills. Its so frustrating and disgusting that clubs will not travel to games a distance away. If that is the case then why enter the table in the first place??
We have always had a great relationship with Selby over the years, but I must say that this was a major disappointment. We are considering withdrawing from the merit table as clubs dont seem to give a f*** who they let down and the financial implications to their counterparts when the club is closed when it has been organised to be open.
So far we have had three merit teams Blob on us, Leos, Bramley and Selby. We will be expecting them to travel to us on the return fixture to fulfill their commitments but I suppose thats just wishful thinking. To be fair to Leos they have stated they will come to us  for the return fixture, which we really appreciate.
The Yorkshire comps committee said that any team failing to play three fixtures would face a "Three strikes and their out" policy. We are due to travel to Stanley Rodillians next week who have only played two of six fixtures.
PLEASE somebody tell me how we take this forward.
A VERY confused North Ribblesdale Chairman.

Any other matters that you'd care to comment on Flaggy?

There appears to be an elephant in the room...

Behave Pock n Roll. Just responded to BRB with the situation as you can see. I know you are poking the bear for a response but its a bit different not fulfilling a fixture and then playing away against another club nearer to home than being cannon fodder in a comp that has become, very sadly in my opinion, meaningless and has no longer the prestige it once carried.

BenFoden’s grey beard

I don't know how you can say you're disgusted about merit league fixtures being blobbed while defending a withdrawal from a cup quarter final. Hiding behind a belief that the cup competitions are dead.
Why then as Ribb chairman did you enter?
Would you have fulfilled a home fixture? Perhaps against Salem or Sandal who aren't going as well.

Bit rich pointing the finger at Selby 3s while pulling out of a first team game.

Biggest hypocrite about.

Not looking to poke any bears, I was just after an explanation as to why you blobbed, turns out it was for very similar reasons why we conceded to Salem, which as you'll probably remember, you were criticizing us for on here "I'm only asking the question others wont"

Dress it up as you want Flaggy, put the blame on others, but if you're going to dish out the "not a proper club" accusations every other week, then you can't be surprised when other forum members call you out on your hypocrisy.

Yarnbury 2s 62 - Ilkley 3s 25

Humble pie or embarrassing for the game?

Yarnbury 1s away at Wath so no help there (not that there was at Selby) but our 3s game was cancelled so we were able to nearly match numbers with your 25 man squad...
