Close game that could have gone either way.
Strange for Pocklington to attend on a bus but only stay in the Wetherby clubhouse for 10 minutes before heading off to a local pub.

Poor form

In my experience - a local pub would be preferable

England spoilt what would have been a perfect day at Silver Royd.

Top marks to the grounds staff who produced an excellent surface despite weeks of rain and an overnight frost. There was three of them there from 7.30am assisted by some other fine chaps!

The pre-match lunch was packed and it was packed with really good people. As for the crowd, if the Pocklington match reporter was counting there would have been 5000 there  ;D ...but there was certainly well over 1000.

Selby were a real threat and were perfectly capable of winning. They threw several big forwards into the contact area and it become a real battle. For the most part Scarborough defended manfully but Selby did get some well deserved tries. The difference was Scarborough ability to attack with such speed and change the point of attack quickly that we just pulled away.  Its no surprise that Selby beat us at home but we had too much today.

Great atmosphere in the clubhouse afterwards with the Selby 1sts and 2nds in some amazing fancy dress (none of your half-arsed efforts - this was proper costumes!)

This has been a very healthy league this year so far, It wont surprise me if it has some surprises still to come.

Great win for our 2nds against a strong Selby 2nds
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.

Not the Pock outfit that lost in a tight game at Ribb last year. They were very magnanimous in defeat and stopped with us for ages As far as I am aware they have always, in the past, stopped and had a few beers irrespective of the result. IMO they are known as a good attending club unless someone on here can tell me otherwise.

That sounds like the Moortown I know

Best post match meal we've had at Wetherby and a decent pint. Never understood coming on a bus and shooting off.

Table looks very different after this weeks fixtures.
Moortwon have shot up into 5th with their 2 results.
Morley and Brods slipping up today gives Pock a tiny bit of breathing room in 2nd.

And what about the Phoenix vs Crocs game?? Don't think anyone saw that being so close.

You're right about Donny v Crocs.

Have Donny got players back? Or new players?
Were Crocs complacent?

Either it's good for the league that Donny are competitive - big thumpings are rubbish for community sport (or any sport actually).

Could there be an unset before the end of the season?

Big fightback by Old Brods. Away side Malton were 34-10 at halftime in a match they were targeting in their fight against the relegation playoffs. They were crusing but ran out of steam and Brods came charging back with three unanswered tries in the 2nd half. A touchline conversation drawing the sides level.

The other results that slipped under the radar is Pontes big win against Morley. Ponte ran Moortown close last match so maybe it wasn't a surprise that they are revving up. Morley given up?

Was a guest at the Ponte Morley game yesterday, the pre-match lunch was as always very enjoyable.

The game was moved from the first team pitch because of the recent very wet weather. As the score suggests on the day two evenly matched sides but with different styles of play. Morley played an organised and expansive game and Pontefract were disruptive in defence and hard running and direct in attack.

I still expect Morley to make the promotion playoffs and won't be surprised if the take the second promotion spot.

Pontefract have a difficult final five fixtures starting with their next game away at Old Crocs but if they can play with the intensity they showed against Morley they have a real chance of avoiding the relegation playoff game.

Very unlike us!
We would normally have stayed for the full match. Unfortunately on our last visit we were the only ones at the club and left after most Wetherby players had gone. We wanted to watch the game with some atmosphere! So we went to a pub that a friend of the team lives next door to!
We did apologise to the team and captain before we left! Also thanking them for their hospitality!
We do understand the poor form comments and as other say we are normally the team that stays long after others have left!

When you came to Town and put a score on us first game, you'd gone before the First XV captain had got out of the shower.

Hot Stepper

Can't be true unfortunately Carl. The proper rugby clubs like Pocklington, Scarborough and North Ribb always stay for three days after an away game, putting thousands over opposition bars.

And as for their hosting...

Hey - don't bring Scarborough into this fight! We are far from perfect but we bring lots of folk to away games, pay on the gate and spend plenty of ££.

So leave us out of it please! But by all means attack other clubs 😂😂😂

Ribbflagman

We dont profess to be Galacticos, but we do usually stop for a couple of hours after the end of the game before loading up at a local mini store for what is invariably a long trip home. Thats no critisism of anyone, its just how life is as an outlying club.

Crocadoodledo

After watching Crocs over at Donny, I'm shocked that Donny haven't picked up at least 1 win this season. It wasn't Crocs finest performance, then combined with 2 wrongly disallowed tries and 2 questionable yellows, made it a lot closer than it should have been. However Crocs left with the 5 points they were looking for, so smiles all round back at the postage stamp.

I can't believe I'm about to defend you lot BRB, but in my experience, when The Scarborough Globetrotters were in town, it was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse afterwards.
