Yes you're right RFU call these things
Material Benefit now and there's updated regulation coming into force on August 1st
Reg 7.1
Basically means certain things have to be declared in the annual return. Penalties for anyone going over the limit are minimal.

I can't speak for other clubs but any players who chooses to play at one of the premier grounds in the north of England does so their own cost (whether it's on top of a hill or not). Any accomodation requires rent to be paid to a private landlord.

I guess some clubs are a genuine attraction in their own right and some aren't.

Many players come as they want to be coached by Ben Foden.

The game is moving on chaps...

Keep banging that drum BRB....

Given BRB's  "experience" does anyone know how many overseas players simply turn up at Kendal? Best facility in the north and a gateway to the wonderful Lake District

backrowbandit

Kendal probably 3rd or 4th best...

Agree with this.

Scarborough have been doing the same for years. Only taken them around a decade to get where they feel they should be and don't think this is off local talent alone. Package deals have been offered to a number of players in the local area in the past. I can't imagine they have suddenly stopped.

Differ is spot on. Not a single antipodean is coming to Scarborough without promise of something. Match fees usually included.

Nobody has issue with Scarborough doing what they like to get players. It's more the constant denial, especially from BackrowBandit.

Nothing to see here chaps....

Promise of a wonderful time and the pick of the local ladies if they fancy a passport!

By this principle Ilkley should be fighting off Aussies and Kiwi players wanting to travel and play for free.
Brilliant facilities, great location on the edge of a rather large city and good transport links, they must be doing something wrong I suppose.

My pal at Pock says the Consett side they met in the play-off was full of South African and Antipodean accents. More proof that players from the Southern hemisphere are  attracted  by bright lights and glamorous surroundings.

Very true. But they are quite forthcoming to admit they do help the South Africans and Antipodeans out.

Looking forward to the season and seeing how Scarborough's young local lads get on...
