You probably need to tell your fixture secretary that as on the north WhatsApp group, I'm told North Ribb said their pitches unplayable?

Our practice match against Melrose went ahead yesterday. 4 x 20m quarters were played and there were no complaints about the pitch.

I think the RFU have been over hasty with their postponement. Surely the home club can make a decision about their playing surface the day before the fixture, as they do in Winter.

I'm at the Club this morning fitting new roofs to the dug-outs. We've have to stop as it's raining too much for the adhesive to be applied. The forecast now says rain everyday apart from Wednesday.

We had a very good first pre-season game yesterday at home against Douglas from the Isle of Man.

And with a high degree of inevitability.. it's now peeing it down in Scarborough!

I think it should have been communicated to clubs to make their own calls as a blanket postponement will simply not apply to clubs in the North-East and North West who have not had drought conditions. Cumbria has had enough rain to make pitches almost ideal. A bit of a hasty call in my opinion.

PS BRB Did they get support from the RFU for an off-shore fixture!!! and what was the result??

Flaggy - regarding the first question I haven't got the faintest idea.

As for the result it was a reasonably comprehensive victory for Scarborough. We are going to have a competitive side, with the objective for our first season at level 5, remaining survival.

Preseason games are always an interesting time, and never to sure how much can be taken from results.

Scarborough appeared to be relatively full strength, and if that was a full strength Douglas side they appear to have a lack of interest tackling and a one dimensional attack which wouldn't have tested many defences. Won't be any teams in R1 that play like what I watched yesterday from Douglas.

Scarboroughs young 10 looked composed in attach and a nice boot, but went missing in defence, Douglas No.8 should have ran at him every scrum after their first try. The latest Kiwi backrow ran some good rugby league lines when he came on, the other had a quiet game (other than a nice offload and an easy walk over the tryline).

Scarboroughs most impressive player was Drew Govier, but the Govier brothers have always been a class above.

At least 7 players missing... including Rufus, Kahu, Wilson, Barker, Parker, Holloway.. etc..

So far from full strength!

The 10 made every tackle except one, which he ran back and then made.

The proof will be in the main season, we expect it to be very tough...
