Ossett 9 no more

First our pre season games tomorrow ,we have a squad away at Harrogate Pythons. 2.00pm kick off

Ossett 9 no more

A good first hit out away at Harrogate Pythons on Saturday for a mixed Ossett side made up of potential first and second team players. Neither side was at full strength but pre season friendlies are more about performances than results and it was a great insight into how pre season as a whole has gone. Ossett's try line defence a particular stand out!

Looking forward to seeing a decent crowd down at Queens Terrace on Friday for the Charlie Walker trophy against Leeds Corinthians kick off 7.00pm

Ripon took a small but well-formed squad to Roundhegians on Saturday (sorry for the delay) and from a score line line perspective, edged the competition in the end. As Ossie says quite rightly, these events are more about performance and cohesion than results, but it is nice to drink in an empty bar after a hard fought session on somebody else's turf!

With four new signings and one debuting Colt in the squad, gelling was going to be the challenge. Over four sessions, Hegians drew one and won two, leaving Ripon to finish strongly. Hegians fielded a very young squad with bags of potential.

Onwards to entertain Barnard Castle for blokes and Colts games on Saturday and hear that Pythons are looking for a midweek game the week after.

I believe St John Ambulance have pulled out of our game next Wednesday unfortunately.

Ossett 9 no more

Another good hit out on Saturday in our second pre season friendly last night against Leeds Corinthians RUFC. 28 players pulled a kit on for Ossett with over 50 players getting game time for both sides, a great advertisement for local Rugby. The Charlie Walker cup remains in Ossett for 12 months at least in what has now become a fantastic annual fixture.
Thanks to Leeds Corinthians again for making the trip over and with the stands booming we'd like to as always thank all our supporters aswell.
We host Yorkshire Police tomorrow (7.00pm) in our final pre season friendly so get yourself down to Queens Terrace for a mid week rugby fix.

Locked Out

Disappointingly, Ripon's planned warm up game v Barnard Castle tomorrow has been called off by them due to player shortages. Not great for either side with the first competitive game of the season just a week away now. Ripon will take comfort from not subjecting players to another risk of injury, but will be having a training run out to keep up momentum.

Looking forward to Ripon's visit to B&B next weekend and will be starting up the predictions league early next week.
