Locked Out

Another break from league action with two weeks of cup games for those left in.

Ripon have the following:

25/10/25 RFU National v Ashington away. Hopefully a repeat of a good result two seasons ago when Ripon went on to  win the Pizza Shield for our level.

01/11/25 Yorkshire Shield v Acklam at home. Unknown quantity from D&N. Will do their best.

Not sure who's left in what, so leave it open for punts and comments on here for sh*ts and giggles over the next two weeks. Back for league predictions in time for week 6 - 8th November.

Enjoy the break if relevant or do well in cups.

Disappointing to note that Ripon's planned opponents for tomorrow - Ashington, have called off due to lack of registered players. Really!

With a AWO agreed, Ripon go through to next round of the Counties 2 Championship competition and potentially a fair way to go if drawn away. Gutted to miss out on a bus trip to the Toon!

The other planned Counties 2 Plate matches:

Bramley Phoenix v Roundhegians
Huddersfield Laund Hill v Ossett

Are they still going ahead?

HLH vs Ossett is off. HWO

I believe the Bramley game is still on.

When will the organisers accept that club cups are a thing of the past and that the only reason that clubs fullfil fixtures is if they are in the league. The sooner we get rid of these rubbish comps and get back to 14 team leagues the better.

Bramley with a home game in the cup, have scratched on our 2s(second team in three home games so far for us) and IMHO casts serious doubts on the "merit" of the merit table. Lets see how the season progresses but i fear that the end is nigh for unwanted merit leagues. IMHO the sooner we get back to clubs arranging fixtures with each other maybe with four fixtures against each other per season the better. At least if you have like minded clubs there is more of a chance of lads getting a game rather than the present situation of clubs being unable to provide competitive rugby for willing members due to the intransigence of clubs refusing to travel.
We had 25 lads available tomorrow so why could Bramley not travel, we could have evened the sides out and at least 30+ guys could have got a game. Now 30+ lads going xmas shopping.
Not good enough.

Based on the Webinar the RFU held on Monday night, don't hold your breath.
"Bother!" said Pooh, as he found his smack had talc in it.
