Hello Guys,
were any of you involved in the regional Webinair earlier in the week where the proposal is that a team finishing fifth can achieve promotion through a play-off scenario. In the strongest terms I said that the state of tinkering by the powers that be was causing a mutinous attitude from many clubs and that they had the solution in the palm of their hands.
A return to 14 team leagues!!! A simple solution that would guarantee 15% more home games than the ridiculous (imho) introduction of a piss pot cup that more than 50% of clubs did not take part in.
It was pointed out to me by Terry Burwell that the reduction of league sizes had reduced travel. I countered by saying that there was no reduction in travel only a reduction of home games and that how could a cup comp that draws a Cumbrian side to play in south Cheshire possibly reduce travel (especially with minimal support, if any from the RFU). It all smacked of another example of the powers that be wanting to say that they had consulted the clubs but then railroading through another hair brain idea. God help all of us if our council reps vote this through. Thre was total apathy from most clubs with only (I think, four represented from three divisional leagues on our webinair. Its that complacency that in my view lets the lunatics get away with running the asylum.
We need a collective voice to speak out against this, otherwise we will be playing rugby until the end of May every year when those that are supposed to know better keep telling us that players want to play less Rugby.
I am flabbergasted by the whole affair and feel very downtrodden and disrespected.
Comments Please.
FORMERLY Ribbflagman.

I'd registered for it but never got the link. I do believe it was also double booked with the Governance Change webinar.
Have you had the email where they suddenly want to allow 5 subs for Regional 1 teams. Due to masses of positive feedback on the said webinar of course.
I'm surprised you missed the opportunity to tell your new bezzie mate Burwell to explain how travel as reduced for you chaps specifically.
The Chair of the Governance webinar said he wouldn't take questions from '"Anonymous attendees". I had to point out to him he'd locked the session down so tight no one could log on with their account and that also, many people have problems logging onto RFU webinars held on teams. And yes, these are people who are supposed to be on it every month.
"Bother!" said Pooh, as he found his smack had talc in it.
