Mugs game predicting new season but here goes.

Bradford Salem v Scarborough: Two teams I would expect to be challenging at the top. Great coaching appointment by Scabs and expect their existing and new players to have bought in. Tough one, Salem seemingly not afraid to splash the cash, on the fence, draw.

Doncaster Phoenix v Old Brodleians: No idea on the pre season form of these two but have a sneaky feeling for an away win.

Moortown v Pocklington: Heard good reports about both these two but home advantage should be good enough.

Morley v Old Crossleyans: Morley have recruited and should take this reasonably comfortably.

Pontefract v Wetherby: Ponte at home is always a tough fixture and going to tip them with my heart making the judgement.

Malton and Norton v Selby: Good fixture, Selby lost some star players but I expect them to be more than competitive. Malton are generally good at home and take home advantage to count just.

Might as join the mugs and get the forum moving

Brad Salem v Scarborough – Comfortable win for Scarborough

Donny P v Old Brods – Close game but just a Brods win.

Moortown v Pock – Moortown to win a close game.

Morley v Old Crocs – Morley members I spoke to at the cricket think they have a strong squad and will be in contention this season so I expect Morley bonus point win.

Ponte v Wetherby – Close game with the result depending on which pack comes out on top, take Ponte because they are at home.

M&N v Selby – I expect Selby to bounce back from relegation and as M&N are normally slow starters  bonus point win for Selby.

ScrumAndGetIt

Brad Salem Vs Scarbs - Depends who Salem have in, but backing Scarbs.

Donny vs Brods - Backing Donny to be better this year and start with a shock win.

Moortown vs Pock - I hear Moortown are giving the young lads a go this year, backing Pock to win.

Morley vs Crocs - Morley BP Win.

Ponte Vs Wetherby - Good battle upfront, but Wetherby will have too much. Wetherby BP Win.

Selby vs M&N - BP Selby Win.

crash ball

No real form to judge by yet. Pre-season games can be misleading, and while some signings and rumours are out there, much is still uncertain—so these are all just educated guesses.

Bradford Salem vs Scarborough
Have Salem managed to recruit well? Have they retained their RL players and are they available? Scarborough had a strong season last year and, with a high-profile coach in charge, will expect to pick up where they left off. Still, Salem is never an easy place to go—predicting a tight home win.

Doncaster vs Brods
Not much to go on here, just a gut feeling—home win.

Moortown vs Pocklington
Moortown always have pace in the backs, but their forwards don't always provide the platform. Pocklington will be fired up after promotion. Expecting an open, high-scoring game—narrow home win.

Morley vs Old Crossleyans
Morley have kept most of last year's squad and added three or four new faces. Still a young side, but keen to push on from last season. Last season Morley let themselves down with Goal-kicking and lineout these areas need to improve. Haven't heard much about Crocs, so leaning towards a bonus-point home win.

Pontefract vs Wetherby
Likely to be a forward-dominated contest. Backing Ponte to edge it—home win.

Selby vs Moortown & M & N
Despite rumours of player losses, Selby should still have enough quality to compete at the top. Home win.

I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong on these guesses  but good luck to all teams.

Pumba

Lets try and have a guess for Gameweek number 1 then!!

Bradford Salem vs Scarborough

I think Scarborough will make a statement here with the new coaches they have a lot to give after last seasons performance, I think if Salem have all their brown envelope lads in it could be close but Scabs W for me.

Doncaster vs Brods

Should be a relatively close game and I think its too close to call I'm going for a draw.

Moortown vs Pocklington

I haven't seen much from Pock on any socials so unsure what they have done since getting promoted, Moortown did play North Ribb on Friday and won so that could put them in a good place for the 1st game so I'm going for a Moortown win at home.

Morley vs Old Crossleyans

Morley finished top 4 and seem to have the same team apart from a few new signings and with crocs only just staying in this league I can only see a home win by a big score.

Pontefract vs Wetherby

This one will be a tough battle upfront but with a lot of Ponte lads playing rugby league I wonder which code they will play for this week, Away win but a very close score line.

Selby vs M & N

Can Selby stop the downward spiral and compete for a top stop this year?

They don't seem to have lost many players and M&N always struggle around the first couple of weeks due to Farming season, I don't think Jacob can lead his team to a W so Home win here.

Bradford Salem vs Scarborough

Travelling across Yorkshire to Bradford Salem on the first day of the season isn't going to be up there as anyone's preferred start to the year!. Scarborough have more or less a similar squad to last year with no incoming players but a couple of colts stepping up. We've lost a few to uni, travelling etc...
I don't think people should over-egg the influence of a new coach. It will take a few weeks to settle down and ultimately if BS have the benefit of a number of professional rugby league players it doesn't really matter who coaches the opposition. Should be a good game but hard to call. Sadly won't be there as I'm at a social function with the ex-harrogate captain.

Doncaster vs Brods

Dont know much about either but have a feeling that Brods will be too strong.

Moortown vs Pocklington

Both these team will be fighting for the top, Pock have looked very strong in pre-season and are on the up. Moortown were poor last year and a certain CT won't want that two years in a row....I'm sure there will be plenty of new players jiving under the disco ball come 9pm on Saturday. Moortown just.

Morley vs Old Crossleyans

Morley have definitely recruited - the question is have Crocs. If not then lots to Morley, if they have it could be respectable.

Pontefract vs Wetherby

Ive said a few times that (on the day) Wetherby was the best side we saw at Silver Royd last year. Ponte are solid but I'm going for an away win.

Selby vs M & N

Selby had a late season charge last year and at one point looked as though they may pull off a miracle survival. It wasn't to be.
Malton are in transition - they've lost some players to Driffield and there was talk of some players retiring. Sam Triffit stepped down as captain but not sure if he's stills playing.
First day of the season could go either way, home advantage might see Malton home but I think I'm going to take a punt on Selby.

[Edit: just noticed Malton aren't at home ...dog!]
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.

BishBashBosh

Lunching with the Brady Boys?
think they'll be a little busy on Saturday..

Forty Twenty

Bradford Salem vs Scarborough

Tough game to call first up, Scabs looking to build on a solid 2nd last season, however if the brown envelopes are flying as usual at Shay lane it may be too much. Salem by 6

Doncaster vs Brods

Struggling to see an outright favourite here and don't know much about either. Donny by 5 home advantage coming through.

Moortown vs Pocklington

Not much to go off on Pock their only losses last year came at the hands of North Ribb who everyone has been raving about. Moortown however apparently beat North Ribb so going to go Moortown by 3  in a closely fought contest.

Morley vs Old Crossleyans

Morley big win to get the season underway.

Pontefract vs Wetherby

Two big packs will be feisty up front however, Wetherby adapted extremely well to the league last year and looked like a real threat. Wetherby by 10 both sides try BP

Selby vs M & N

Selby to bounce back - home BP win

BigBadWolf69

Salem vs Scarborough - I think Scarborough are the better team but $alem at home, small pitch, big boys. I think they will come away with the points.. just.

Phoenix vs Brods - I personally think Brods aren't all they are hyped up to be. Good on their hill at home but away from home I'm back Doncaster.

Moortown Vs Pock - Really depends who is playing for Moortown, their colts will struggle if they are putting them in. Pock are a big set of boys & a well drilled side. Pock BP win.

Morley vs Crocs - Crocs actually found some form the last few games of the season. However, Morley going to be too good for them. Morley BP win.

Pontefract vs Wetherby - From what I know both teams are relatively unchanged from last season. Struggle to see anything other than a Wetherby BP win.

Selby vs Malton - Selby will be aiming to bounce back and I expect them to do so relatively easily.

old style prop

Salem vs Scarborough - Backing boro to get the valuble away points.

Phoenix vs Brods - think both sides underperformed last season should be a cracker taking Phoenix to snatch the points at home.

Moortown Vs Pock - Based on seeing both these sides last season should be a backs v forwards game. At home with firm picth taking Moortown to get the points.

Morley vs Crocs - Think this is closest one to a banker this week, hard to see past a Morley win at home.

Pontefract vs Wetherby - As always will be backing our lads to start the season with those valuable away points, wetherby win.

Selby vs Malton - If i was a neutral I think this would be the game to go watch this week, should be a cracker and taking Selby to get the points at home.
