Locked Out

Fishermen's Friends v Broke & Busted: Despite the long journey, think B&B have enough in the tank to get the points here, just. B&B -7

Hooligans v Rugrats: This season's Rugrats a bit older and wider and happy to put the bogey of Mount Doom to bed. Ripon +7

Laundromats v Snoozers: Hegians wide awake now and if they can keep up their pace and consistency, should be another high scoring five pointer for them. Hegians +7

Ouzos v Filofax: back on home turf and if they can keep away from the steamrollers, should 'Ensians should get a bucketful. OOs +7

Wakey Wind-ups v Old Farmers: North have been fighting back more recently but think the home advantage will keep this one tight. Ossett -7

Ca$h Cow$ v Bad Apples: Both sides with much to proves and so a lively encounter I'm sure. Bai£don -7

backrowbandit

I popped through to Brid on Saturday. The weather was awful and credit to both teams for giving it a go and getting on with with it. It was very wet and muddy.

I was actually very impressed with Brid who looked like a typical Brid side of old with strong ball carriers, big hits and plenty needle!

They were very good value for their win. They just need to get their players to travel to away games and they should go up.
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.

HLH v Roundhegians

A very tight first half, HLH went 2 tries up before hegians had a productive last 15 minutes scoring 2 themselves and being up by 2 at half time.

The HLH bench was released onto the pitch the changes made a massive impact, the scrum took control and from that the returning wrecking ball holmes crashed over from 10m out.

The HLH pack turned it up a gear with hegians being unable to reply, HLH left a couple of tries on the pitch and were good value for the win.

With this weeks pending fixtures the gap at the top could be closed with HLH having the easier fixture and the top 4 playing each other.

P.s. was the site down earlier in the week? If so I was unable to put my predications in this week so don't want to lose out on valuable points on a technical glitch.

Locked Out

Due to the unforeseen circumstances of the site being indisposed and not everyone able to post predictions, I think it's fair to call week 8 null and void. Will start a new thread for week 9 later. Got to note thanks to "Backrowbandit" for minimising the damage caused by relocating the site.

In closing down week 8, Ripon came a sorry second up on Mount Doom, adding to their woes and developing a real anxiety about away games. After an intense and spirited start, Ripon led early on from two penalty goals, then let Vandals in for two converted tries for a 14 - 6 half time lead. The second half was a right slog for both, with Ripon unable to exploit possession to score and Vandals just claiming the one converted try. Both sides looked to play with pace and expansion, despite the miserable weather, though Vandals had a clear edge at scrum time.

In a rare comedic moment, Ripon set a record for perhaps the only player in history to receive two yellow and two red cards in the same game! Given a first straight red for an alleged foul play, the player was recalled after Vandals players fairly said it was an accident (it wasn't event the right player), so the ref (under assessment) revoked the red for a yellow. Same player then gets pinged for dissent in the second half and issued with a second yellow, thence another red card. Would love to be a fly on the wall at the disciplinary hearing!
