Quote from: BigDong on Oct 09, 2026, 10:10 PMWatched Moortown both games this year. Very poor and will be caught out very soon by more experienced sides. As usual the town will drop off and bottle it like every year. Boring team coached by inexperienced coach. Would rather watch Leeds medics.

thank you personally for paying £7 to watch Town dismantle Wath last week.

Feel free to come again tomorrow and have a beer on me.

Hi Luke. Would be great to have a beer with you tomorrow. I am not a fan of the club I'm supporting a relative (Sheridan) happy to be proven wrong by town but I do feel history will repeat itself. Luke maybe you should have a go at coaching as I don't think the current coach is the right man for the job.

Thoroughly professional performance today from Morley to bounce back after defeat against Salem. Free flowing attacking rugby and solid defence kept Pocks willing runners at bay and provided the platform for a very welcome 5 points.

Not sure Pock will be too happy with the ref though after receiving 3 yellow cards in the first half  :o. I do think the standard of refereeing at this level leaves a lot to be desired, inconsistent applications week after week don't help teams.

Accurate assessment of the game, couldn't agree more 👍

Have Moortown taken inspiration from Scabs with all their Saffer's, or are you going to tell us Moortown is now a tourist hotspot?

There's never been anything inspiring about Moortown so they had to get it from somewhere.

Bit of a mean comment. I assume our several international and county players must have found their inspiration elsewhere 😊

I agree with Oldtimer and can see why some/many would have an issue with how they saw the game was managed by the referee.

However, I would put forward a different perspective.

Pock were warned/advised by the referee to get out of the tackle/ruck area more quickly.

Their 9 was 'told' inside 10 minutes he had done it twice!

It is about time a ref applied the laws!

Too often as happened today we see a side 'coached' to slow the ball down, to clear out beyond the ball, to interfere with the play of the ball etc.

It is about time ref reffed the laws.

Obviously I am mindful of materiality and contextuality, however today Pock were told repeatedly to 'clean up' their game and they didn't.

Morley benefitted from it.

I think Morley had enough to win the game no matter what Pock did, they simply made it easier.

Nevertheless the scoreline does not reflect how close the game was.

R3 Results-

Din- Wath- Good result for Din

M&M VS £ALEM- Salem Win, no real surprise

Moortown-Cleck, close game by the looks of it. Tough Slog for cleck and it doesn't get any easier for Round 4 with Pock at home.

Morley- Pock- Sounds like a cracking match. Morley with a good win.

Brods - Weth- Brods- Strong first half from brods- 34- 5 Ht- second half different story however the standard of the refs was below par- red card for second row of Brods was very soft and only a pen at the most. Brods could go beaten at home this year dependant on Numbers.
Brods at $alem this week could be the MOTD- could be physical upfront slog- could be a draw here.

Selby- Ponte- close game by the looks of it.

I believe if Morley can keep consistent they should walk the league.

A fair bit of referee slander, sometimes it is warranted. Is the game becoming too complex with too many Laws?

carlthewlisjohns

I think it's becoming harder and harder for referees law wise. Lot's of definitive changes both now and coming up and then from the top things to "focus" on. It seems to be making it difficult for a referee to enjoy the game too as they are under so much pressure to remember or interpret them all. One thing we are trying to work on at Town is appealing.....I know it's hard in the heat of battle but players stood there cheering and clapping their hands for a holding on pen is a pet hate of mine.

Pumba

The amount of new laws and ridiculous.

Hip drop tackle and a tackling players knee cannot touch the floor during a tackle coming in November.

I get the hip drop tackle but the other one is so stupid.

No, it is not warranted. Never has been, never will be.

If you have an issue with a decision. ask the Ref about it in the clubhouse after the game - in a friendly manner.
"Bother!" said Pooh, as he found his smack had talc in it.

Or moan to the Telegraph and Argus about away supporters influencing officials or unfair treatment.

Just to clarify, it wasn't my intention to single out officiating at this level, I was merely agreeing with Oldtimers observations on the day.

Morley won because they were the better side.
