Must be a safety issue when an experienced level 4 is propping against lads that are probably level 10 at best. Thought more of Heath.

Do we know what the ruling is yet about movement between teams?

I know the Wath prop very well. After the game, (where by the way Waths scrum held up very well) he said he was a decent prop but it was a good contest.
He did the full 80 minutes for Wath for the first time this season and said he enjoyed it. He's been a tight head for over twenty years and like all good props likes the challenge.
By Sunday he knew he'd been in a game, but he'll be back on Saturday.

Quote from: Pot bellied prop on Oct 25, 2026, 07:08 PMHe was last named in their squad on the 2nd October. Would hardly call that weeks and weeks. Do we think if there was a 1st team game this week he'd have still been named in the 2nd team squad?

Not trying to say Heath have done anything wrong but certainly raises questions when as mentioned above Yorkshire 2 sides can't loan level 4 players but several teams in this league can borrow from 1st teams. Some even in level 3
Three weeks... he got injured in that game at Tynesdale, hasnt played and barely trained since.

He was always gonna play a 2nd team game or two before going back into firsts.

Deliberately missing the point.

So the old way is that he would play for the twos in the merit league, surely the point would be that Yorks 2 is the same if not higher standard than the merit leagues?
Would this also not be fair?
Where do you suggest he play for game time after injury?

I dont think either side had a prayer of pushing in those scrums in that weather! They did well not to fallover completely!

Agree with BBB that 1st XV players at any level need proper game time in lower teams (if clubs have them) to re-acclimatise after long or serious injury lay offs. Ripit already confirmed it's ok within competition rules for front row players anyway, otherwise, where indeed would they get rehab match time? Plus, there's always the route for dispensation from league secretaries, so palatable or unpalatable as it might be to pit a titan against a minnow, it is permissible.

On Leaguers' point about pushing, I'd confer with M&N's 2nd XV pack before endorsing that. They seemed to slip into reverse gear quite easily on Saturday v Ripon and there's certainly no national league players in that front row! :)

Again, deliberately missing the point.

No one is saying that players don't need rehab games after injury or players can't be dropped to 2nds.

The point is 2nd teams have been dropped into leagues without earning their place in those leagues and then get the helping hand of being able to call on national league players whilst the original league members can't. It's safe to say this is in no way fair to the original clubs in that league and is only good for the big clubs in higher leagues.

It's been badly thought out and badly implemented. It's not going to be changed now but it shouldn't have been done in the first place.
