Congratulations to Huddersfield for making the Papa Johns Cup Final.

3 years in a row that a regional 1 NE side has made it to the final, 3 winners in a row would surely demonstrate this league has the be the strongest level 5 league in the country.

Best of luck to Huddersfield.

I agree Differ Lad, best of luck to Huddersfield and hope they get the win to show the country that this league is really the best at level 5!

Good Luck to Huddersfield and Heath who are representing Yorkshire in the Papa Johns finals this weekend.  I think this demonstrates just how strong and competitive Yorkshire rugby is.

I agree to a certain extent, but how many games have these teams played to get to the final?

Differ Lid

Huddersfield have beaten Wirral home and away, then travelled to Syston in the semi-final. So they have fully deserved their place in the final.

Heath beat Stockport and then awarded 2 walkovers. Think that's a reflection on the competition, and the fact that the team that finished 2nd in the league is in a lower level cup.

We didn't want to go into a final having not played for a month, but it is what it is.

Back to 14 teams next year anyone?

100%.
These cups that not many want to play in are madness and reduce clubs income substantially. That coupled with the fact that there is little or no support for travelling from say Scarborough to Birmingham makes it even less appealing.
In my opinion 14 team leagues are a must for clubs at grassroots level (say level 5 and below) if the RFU is serious about club sustainability. If not then let them at least be honest with us and tell us their real strategy.
Notice today a "New" champ rugby comp to replace the Championship that includes Worcester has been announced. Nothing against Worcester but clubs such as Richmond et al had to work their way back from the basement after going bankrupt.
Can someone please tell me what is going on.
FORMERLY Ribbflagman.

That Worcester deal stinks. To be eligble they had to pay their rugby creditors. Note that is Rugby creditors. All the companies they traded with to facilitate the running of the place, including the local butchers, bakers etc end up with nothing.

Commiserations to Huddersfield on their PJ final defeat and Congratulations to Heath on their PJ final victory yesterday!

Leave the league as it is, ditch the papa John's fiasco.
Reinstate the Yorkshire cup, shield etc
Compulsory entry to all Yorkshire clubs.
If team fails to play etc deduct them league points.
You could incentivize further by possible promotion for a trophy win or regional cup etc
Get a major sponsor on board and revalue what we have got.
Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it."

You can't penalise a team in the league for not accepting an invite into a county cup comp. Two seperate comps run by differing organisations.
That said, your proposal would be self defeating based on the pizz pot comp this season would it not?

I'm not sure you'll find much support for that opinion.
Loving all rugby but especially at grassroots level.
