I suspect part of the problem is when you look at it from your own clubs perspective it seems like it should be easy to solve, but then when you try to put the whole together incorporating all the clubs you get too many clashes that it becomes unworkable. As an example when i looked at the fixtures my first thought with my "club glasses" on was why on earth have they not matched up our 1s and 2s fixtures up when they play the same club but then the thought of doing that for every club made my brain hurt.

Upside i can see from my own clubs perspective is we have a game at home most weekends, downside is we never get a weekend were both the 1s and 2s are home togoether or playing against the same club together which were always the best weekends for socials (especially if you got a club to agree to host both the 1s and 2s same day and then return the favour later in the season).

THANKS JIM,
It really is a shame that zero communication from the aforementioned people was not forthcoming, Both people I mentioned stated that they would do their best to help reduce travel costs  However they have simply chosen not to have the decency to communicate with each other or me to even tell me that the request was not possible (It would have been if they could have been arsed to talk to each other as requested) and then revert. I know I constantly bang the drum. But I personally believe we need as a county to have genuine rugby folk making decisions in the clubs they purport to represent rather than telling lies to member clubs and massaging already inflated egos. I say this on behalf of all clubs and not just the club I am committed to, North Ribb.

you have more chance of being on a day return trip to Mars then getting anything changed. I spent about six hours a couple of weeks ago speaking to Peter Morgan, Bob Morrison, both of whom are influential on the make up of the fixtures. It seems they dont like each other and so decided not to have a common sense chat about clubs sustainability and reduced travel costs. Surely it cannot be beyond supposedly intelligent people to pick up a phone and have a sensible chat regarding your post. After all we "Allegedly put people on the moon some 58 years ago". But phone calls and communication seem to have taken a back seat and not necessary by the "Powers that be".
Maybe thats why the chair of the Yorkshire Competitions committee has resigned. He is a good rugby bloke. Make of it what you will but I am personally very disappointed that common sense could not prevail, a reasonable request could not be discussed/or responded to. It smacks of dictatorship arrogance to me. All I want is whats best for all clubs, not just North Ribb.

Don't agree with you very often 'Ribble', however your experience of certain members of YRFU is similar to mine.
They have a Canute like attitude to change and are clinging on as hard as they can to 'how it used to be'.
Those days are gone... and I for one  mourn their passing, however unless we embrace the new reality we are destined to whither on the vine.

Fixtures gods haven't done much for exposure of the 2nd teams or the 1st teams already in this league.
Now having to play same home games as the clubs 1s. So no extra gate, no extra sponsorship etc. Will they be changed? We shall see

A lot of teams have been awfully quiet about any new additions. At the moment, it seems to be just Morley and Salem. Is nobody else signing anyone, or are those two just a bit more active on social media?
