I am sure that the county hon sec does not work for nothing.
I would be happy to be proven wrong. But think not.
Despite that can the current situation be one that member clubs agree with???. If so maybe I am wasting my time and we should all just shrug our shoulders and let the liars away with their version of the truth.
I think that sets a dangerous precedent for a democratic (or should be) organisation such as Yorkshire County Rugby.

Just seen that Gate had x2 front row injuries in the first 20 mins on Sat.
Uncontested scrums and 60 mins with 14 men will have had it's effect in the outcome....

You're also forgetting that said DOR was a former player with 250+ Harrogate caps and Captain for a number of years. Add in his brother plays second row, current captain and again 250+ caps - that's quite the pull.
DOR's get paid at pretty much every club, I could understand if Jake had just signed as a player, but DOR is different (It's not like we've signed an ex England full back as DOR  ;D )
From personal experience this season, he's doing a very good job.

Yorkshire 1 / county vote.
Last post by Ribbflagman - Apr 14, 2026, 10:13 PM
Gentlemen,
having asked to see the voting forms for the recent vote on Lower XVs into the league pyramid and also for 14 team leagues. I have today received a response from a county official who has said that
"The vote was a secret ballot only for information of the Hon Sec and validated by the office" so apologies from said person "We simply cannot send out the names of the clubs who voted"
What utter corporate claptrap. The people involved should be ashamed of being part of an organisation that has no respect for its members. Yes Guys thats you and I who all work tirelessly for the clubs we love, only to be ruled by a set of liars, who are not prepared to let us have transparency. Where in the county constitution does it state that it has become a secret society.
Our new County chair and his cohort (I know who he is) should hang their heads in shame as it is not how it should be.
I dont know the way forward but for us all to sit back and do nothing is to make us all complicit in such treachery within our county.
How our county Hon Sec continues to take the salary with a free conscience I really do wonder.
Time for some action.????????????????????????????????????????????

Not implying anything wrong with it in the slightest, clear links to the club etc.

It was an investment with aspirations of promotion. So as a club would be keen to see the promotion, if not this year the next.

No doubt Gate will have wanted to go up and I would expect that most teams that come from Nat 2 want to bounce straight back up. The problem for Gate is the flip flopping between the two leagues - Nat 2 is just a much stronger league and will wear down an unprepared squad before xmas. You need so much more depth to stay up.

Will wait for the team sheets before predictions (winning margin less than 5 though

The Player/DOR was some investment and didn't play last year. I'm not saying they shouldn't spend money on a DOR or a player but it was a sign of intent. (Similar to Heath with Johnson a few years ago).
Harrogate 2s playing regular fixtures this year shows some return, but promotion would have been the goal no doubt.

You're also forgetting that said DOR was a former player with 250+ Harrogate caps and Captain for a number of years. Add in his brother plays second row, current captain and again 250+ caps - that's quite the pull.

Regional 2 North East / Play Offs Promotion AND Relega...
Last post by FlankSinatra - Apr 14, 2026, 01:15 PM
We are here.

Promotion:
Pocklington vs Selby
Old Brodleians vs Morley

Relegation:
Wetherby vs Old Crossleyans

A fair end to the season? I think Pocklington will easily walk away with the win at home. The other 2 games are much harder to predict.

I will back Old Brodleians on the hill at home but Morley at full tilt (after resting their starboys and saving a pretty penny vs Crossleyans) will be looking to spend that cash on a play off run.

Wetherby on their home pitch will fancy themselves however Old Crossleyans are no mug on their day and capable of beating anybody. An average Wetherby beat an average Crossleyans but an on-song Crossleyans beats an on-song Wetherby.

Wetherby to get the job done.
